GUEST POST BY YVETTE LUCIANO.

Speaking as someone who has been on the other side of Pink October, I completely agree with everything Jess mentioned HERE.

When I was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer at 29 years-old two years ago, I was posted big packages of information, a hot pink diary for my doctors appointments and a newsletter full of (much, much older women’s) stories and their tales of husbands leaving them after breast cancer surgery. It was hell in a post-pack.

The first time I really understood how much I needed alone time was in high school. It was school holidays and I had spent a few days hopping around between my friend’s houses, bag full of enough clothes to last me indefinitely. It was early evening and I was hungover and tired. This was the first time I’d grown sick of being in the company of others and all I wanted was hangout by myself. I called my dad to come and pick me up, went home and shut myself away in my room with a movie (How Stella Got Her Groove Back) and a whole satay chicken pizza to myself.

With the click of a few buttons we can find information about anything! The options that are presented to us are infinite and that itself breeds confusion. It seems that the main question for our generation is not what to do but how to make it last.

There are only a few days to go until we launch the first segment of healthtalks, so it’s probably about time I stopped teasing about what exactly we’ve got going on.

When I started this blog, I had no idea of the opportunities that would become available to me because of it. At the time, I was just grateful to have something to do between all the juicing and coffee enemas. Now, a little over two years on, my little piece of online realty has grown so much that it is working overtime for me and my message. It has connected me to some of the most amazing people in the wellness field, and now it has lead me to work on an awesome new TV show called Health TALKS.
