Possibly less than you think.
Years ago, we were all encouraged to spend at least 30 mins a day doing some kind of exercise. If you wanted to lose weight, the prevailing wisdom was the more exercise the better.
However, new research is coming to light that show hours spent sweating it out in the gym is entirely unnecessary.
Unless of course you flipping love it, then fill your boots.
But if you’re pressed for time, confused about how you should be spending it when you are at the gym, or dreading your 1-hour Spin class – then read on.

Yesterday was all about amazing raw desserts, but today we’re honouring the chilly season (for those of us here in Oz, anyway) and talking warming winter treats. Cooler weather calls for us to warm our bodies up from the inside out, and one of the best and tastiest ways to do this is with yummy healthy puddings.
Here are three of my favourite winter desserts – puddings every which way …

Yesterday I gave you the 411 on raw desserts – the low-down on why it’s possible to eat sweet treats every day and not feel guilty. You’re welcome. Today is all about virtually dishing up my favourite raw desserts. Some are my own recipes, and some are from my favourite healthy foodies. These are the treats I turn to whenever I have to prepare a dish for a dinner party and really want to impress the pants off anyone who scoffs behind my back at my unconventional eating habits.
Get out a pad and pen, jot down your shopping list, and prepare to throw your taste buds a rager.

I spoke at a business network high tea recently, (there’s me chatting about eating organic wholefoods while the ladies all ate sugar-laden cup cakes) and I was asked to share the “naughtiest” food I eat. My answer was this: I never eat anything naughty … however I do eat dessert pretty much every day. You see, when your sweet treats come from nature, in organic whole food form, they’re never naughty. So, this week is dedicated to The Healthy Dessert. Over the next couple of days I’m going to share with you my favourite sweet treats – cooked and uncooked.

Cravings are loud. They kick and shout. They’re obnoxious and relentless like a tantruming toddler.
When a craving hits me, I feel like there’s something switched on inside me, driving me with wild-eyed force until it has been fulfilled.
Many a time when they hit, I would find myself at the counter of a convenience store happily chatting to the clerk while I purchased family sized blocks of chocolate or entire buckets of ice cream. Then I would scurry home to wolf down the lot in solitude and hide the evidence before my partner got home.

Stereotypically, models are portrayed as extremely beautiful but also extremely unhealthy. Russian supermodel Valentina Zelyaeva only lives up to one half of this stereotype, and it’s clear which one. Valentina is a fashion model, mostly known as being the face of Ralph Lauren. She’s also a world traveller, yoga lover, raw food enthusiast, a nature fanatic and one of my favourite people to follow on Instagram for healthy inspiration.

Five years ago today, at 9am, I slipped away from my desk at Dolly magazine and walked to my hand doctor’s office with excitement. Two weeks prior I’d had surgery to remove fluid on my left middle finger and biopsies to try and work out why I had strange little lumps popping up all over my hand arm. Being a firm fixture on the Sydney social scene, the cast I’d had to wear for the two weeks was a drag. It was uncomfortable and impossible to hide in photographs, and I was peeved off having to type with one hand at work. With the MTV awards just two days away, I was keen to get the thing off.

I haven’t eaten anything that isn’t organic in three years – to the day, today actually (it’s been three years since I started Gerson Therapy – woo!). And I don’t plan on ever going back to eating conventional food. Honestly, I don’t see why organic food should be made out to be the odd way of eating when it’s actually the way we are designed to eat. Our bodies are not designed to consume chemicals, and yet we think it’s entirely normal to eat fruits and vegetables that have been sprayed with them and grown in soils that are drenched in them. Does anyone else think that’s nuts?

In a couple of weeks it will have been three years since I started Gerson Therapy, and one year since I completed it. However, when I say ‘completed it’, I don’t mean stop-all-together-and-go-back-to-eating-crap. Far from it. These days, my diet is still very much rooted in the Gerson foundation and I absolutely love it.

There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t pause and silently thank the universe for how amazingly blessed I am, but on the weekend that I went to Gwinganna Lifestyle Retreat, these silent “thank yous” became my mantra. I was constantly overwhelmed by the amount of beauty, love and joy I was surrounded with – and couldn’t help thanking whoever is responsible for creating it and collaborating with me on bringing it into my life.
