Stereotypically, models are portrayed as extremely beautiful but also extremely unhealthy. Russian supermodel Valentina Zelyaeva only lives up to one half of this stereotype, and it’s clear which one. Valentina is a fashion model, mostly known as being the face of Ralph Lauren. She’s also a world traveller, yoga lover, raw food enthusiast, a nature fanatic and one of my favourite people to follow on Instagram for healthy inspiration.

Amanda Rootsey and I were introduced years ago by a mutual friend and bonded over, among other things, the fact that we were both diagnosed with cancer in our early 20s. We both thought that we had been cut down in our prime – at the time Amanda was travelling through Europe and working as a model. We’ve stayed friends over the years, witnessing each other grow through the necessary trials that are part of the cancer healing process.

I don’t even know where to start when it comes to an appropriate introduction for Rachel MacDonald. On paper, she is the creator of the amazing blog In Spaces Between. She’s also a brilliant life and blog coach, and has the most dewy clear skin I’ve ever seen in real life. On a deeper level, Rach is one of the most genuine, kind, positive, gorgeous souls I’ve ever met, and I’m grateful every day to be able to call her one of my besties.
I’m so thrilled to share Rachel’s Foodie insights with you. I know you will love her just as much as I do!

In honour of Meat Free Week this week (18-24 March) Foodie Friday is Aussie chef and Meat Free Week ambassador Simon Bryant.
Simon Bryant is a face well known as The Chef on ABCs program The Cook & The Chef alongside food icon Maggie Beer. Originally a motor mechanic, Simon soon realised his calling was in the kitchen. He was with Hilton Adelaide for more than 10 years, commencing as a Commis Chef, followed by a Chef de Partie in ‘The Grange’ and working his way up to Senior Sous Chef of ‘The Brasserie’. It was in ‘The Brasserie’ where Simon emerged as one of South Australia’s hottest young chefs and was promoted to Executive Chef.

I’m pressing the ‘pause’ button on Foodie Friday this week because I made dinner the other night and my creation was so good that I felt it warranted the interruption. This dish was a major experiment, in which I threw all of the flavours I was craving into a pot and mixed them all together. The result threw my tastebuds a soiree.

I’m so excited to have the lovely Lisa Mitchell as my very first Foodie Friday of 2013. Lisa and I started chatting a few months ago after she gave me and my website a shout out to her Twitter and Facebook followers. From this virtual meeting I discovered that Lisa is so much more than the talented folk-pop singer/songwriter I knew her to be. She is also deeply spiritual, very wise, and a passionate healthy foodie!
