When was the last time you spent a whole day doing exactly what you felt like doing? Sleeping until you felt like getting up, eating what you felt like eating, moving your body the way it personally wanted to move, listening to the music you felt like listening to and watching whatever you felt like watching? When we constantly have people around us – whether it’s our partners, parents, friends, or children – we tend to tailor the way we spend our minutes to suit the collective. We compromise. This isn’t a bad thing, but we also have to remember how important it is to have days where we completely indulge in what brings us personally the most joy.Read More
Back in the day, I’d get excited about spending all of my money of clothes and shoes and handbags. Those things still excite me, but nowhere near as much as spending my money on things that my cells yearn for. Superfoods, for instance.Read More
After two years of Gerson, and having to eat pretty much the exact same thing every day, I’d basically instructed my cravings to keep quiet. It wasn’t much fun when I would have a craving for curry only to have to sit down to soup, salad, potato and plain veggies. So, for the sake of my sanity and my Gerson staying power, I trained myself to push all thought of curry out of my mind and to get excited about cabbage. But now, after completing my strict Gerson stint, I’m re-learning how to listen to my intuition when it comes to what my body wants me to eat.Read More
We ate a lot of amazing food on our trip to Hawaii and LA, but the dish that stands out the most is the acai bowl. We ate so many of these, the best being from the Beet Box Café in Hawaii. So, when we got to LA, Tallon re-created it for us and we had them for breakfast, dessert and snacks. Here’s Tallon’s interpretation of an awesome acai bowl.Read More
For those following us on online and on Facebook (nearly 300k, thank you!!!) you might have seen Laurentine’s pregnant belly over the past few months. Well we recently had our baby and we wanted to share our unique story with you. I think you’ll find it interesting commentary on birth and the beginnings of life as a human.
I call this an unusual story because it is not the typical hospital style birth that dominates our culture.Read More
Travelling is awesome and such an important part of a well-lived life, however it can also take a major toll on your body if you’re not careful. Many of us get so caught up in the excitement of visiting new places that we forget to prepare ourselves for the elements that can make travelling a health burden – inability to find clean food, being stuck on an airplane for hours, horrendously unnatural airplane food, out-of-whack digestion, and jet lag. However, with appropriate prep and mindfulness, it’s easy to give your body the support it needs to cope with all of this. Here are some of my best tips for travelling like a wellness warrior.Read More
After spending six days in Hawaii, Tallon and I flew over to Los Angeles for two weeks. We chose to stay over on the beach in Venice because this little community is so conscious, creative and abundant with organic food and juices. It’s easy to be a wellness warrior in Venice!Read More
I’m back! Boy, I’ve missed you. We had the absolute best holiday, but it’s so good to be back to all of my homely comforts like my dog, my bed and chatting to you each day. Spending a few weeks away from the blog has left me brimming with inspiration though, and excitement to roll out some awesome content for you. This week is dedicated to healthy travelling. I’m going to lay out all of the details of our trip to Hawaii and LA, plus some of my best tips and tricks for staying super healthy while you’re on the road, in the air and away from home. Let’s get stuck into it by reminiscing about the Hawaii leg of my trip.Read More
I’m going on holidays today. Yay! Tallon and I are about to take off for three weeks away – a week in Hawaii and two weeks in Venice (LA, not Europe). This year has been so full on so far that we need a good break, plus the next few months are going to be cray. Seriously cray.
When we get back in August I’m heading straight to Melbourne for the Hay House Writer’s Workshop (where I’ll be sharing the stage with and trying to restrain myself from giving Wayne Dyer a bear hug), then in September I’m hosting the first Wellness Warrior retreat, and then in October I’ll be launching my book with Hay House and heading off on a national live tour. Phew. I’m equal parts excited and terrified (a year ago the thought of speaking in public made me want to puke).Read More
Ah, the humble orange. This fruit is so common that we rarely hear about just how nutritious it is. We got nuts over superfoods with exotic names from exotic regions, but we often forget that super nutrition can come from food items we have access to all of the time. Case in point: oranges.
I start every day with a glass of freshly-squeezed organic orange juice. I started doing this when I began Gerson Therapy over three years ago, and I continue to do it today. It’s the only time I drink straight fruit juice, because the benefits of a little OJ each day outweigh the argument that fruit juice is a pretty much sugar infusion.Read More
