GUEST POST BY NATALIE KRINGOUDIS.

Many women loathe menstruating. It brings on all kinds of unwanted signs and symptoms – rising body temperature (cue night sweats), headaches (pre-menstrual, at onset, during and at the end of the period – all diagnostic tools related to hormones), pain, bloating, and for some, vomiting and diarrhea. Oh and then there are mood swings – they’re fun… not! If I suffered from any of the above, I’d want to jump ship too! But here’s a little tip – these unwelcome signs are your body’s way of communicating with you that things aren’t in great shape. While we have accepted that these pre menstrual (PMS) and menstrual symptoms are simply part of the package, they don’t need to be there. They are treatable.

I’ve Started Eating Clay. You Should Too!

No, I’m not crazy. I’ve haven’t gone and contracted pica (the name of the disease given to people who eat dirt). Eating clay is actually a very clever, amazing health-promoting thing to do.

As I wrote here, I am on a mission to eliminate toxic heavy metals from my body. Thanks to the chemotherapy I had four years ago, my body is still weighed down by them. However, even without chemo poison, many of us are heavy metal contaminated. This is thanks to pollutants in the air, at the hairdresser, at the petrol station, in our seafood, in our water, in our cosmetics, in tattoos – and pretty much everything else we consume. So, this is just one of the reasons why I have taken to eating a spoonful of dirt each morning.

GUEST POST BY ANNA GEORGE.

I am going to die.

Or at least, that is what I thought during my first Bikram yoga class. Die, pass out, throw up, have a heart attack. They all seemed like viable options, and I was so ready to welcome anything that would end the torture and suffering.

For those of you that have been living in Greenland for the past few years, Bikram yoga is an intensive 90 minute yoga practice.

“90 minutes?” you say? “No sweat!”

Everything in life is flow.

Best Decision Ever! I feel so recharged after my week-long blog savasana that any weird guilt I created for myself totally dissipated as soon as I felt the relief that came along with mental space. Ah, space … I don’t know why I’ve resisted you for so long. I cleaned, I cleared, I de-cluttered, I culled, and I made room for all of the brilliance I know the universe has in store for me. I now totally get that we won’t attract everything that is meant for us unless we clear out the old to make room for the shiny and new.

For the past few weeks I’ve wanted to do nothing besides crawl under the covers of my bed and sleep. And watch a little Gossip Girl. And then sleep some more. Feeling I was on the risk of becoming a recluse, and having Chuck/Blair/Serena/Nate/Dan story lines showing up in my dreams, I realised it was time to assess things.

My life is feeling crowded, and instead of saying no to commitments and putting in place necessary boundaries, I’ve just had the urge to hide away from it all.

As my health has improved, I’ve taken on project after project and commitment after commitment – excited because I now have the ability to work for longer than an hour without making a juice, and I can actually leave the house. However, after lying so low on Gerson Therapy for the past two years, I didn’t realise how much I would feel the effects of a rapid life re-integration.
