In summer it’s easy to get excited about cooling drinks like smoothies and juices, but in winter we usually crave hot drinks that will warm us up from the inside out. However, many of us find it hard to come up with anything more than a cup of tea. Don’t get me wrong. A tea is awesome. Just like having a bath on the inside, some might say. But when you drink peppermint tea after dinner every night (to aid digestion), sometimes you want to mix things up a little.

Janella Purcell is someone to sit up and listen to. On paper, she’s a nutritionist, naturopath, herbalist and iridologist, but in the flesh she’s a passionate advocate for eating in a way that best suits your individual body while at the same time being acutely aware of what kind of impact our food choices are having on the planet and all of its beings.
Janella’s written award-winning books, writes blogs, has a private practice, and is the former co-host of Good Chef Bad Chef with MasterChef’s Gary Mehigan (she was the good chef, of course).

Yesterday was all about amazing raw desserts, but today we’re honouring the chilly season (for those of us here in Oz, anyway) and talking warming winter treats. Cooler weather calls for us to warm our bodies up from the inside out, and one of the best and tastiest ways to do this is with yummy healthy puddings.
Here are three of my favourite winter desserts – puddings every which way …

Yesterday I gave you the 411 on raw desserts – the low-down on why it’s possible to eat sweet treats every day and not feel guilty. You’re welcome. Today is all about virtually dishing up my favourite raw desserts. Some are my own recipes, and some are from my favourite healthy foodies. These are the treats I turn to whenever I have to prepare a dish for a dinner party and really want to impress the pants off anyone who scoffs behind my back at my unconventional eating habits.
Get out a pad and pen, jot down your shopping list, and prepare to throw your taste buds a rager.

This week’s star foodie is the gorgeous author of the brilliant book, UnDiet. Meghan Telpner is a Toronto based nutritionista on a mission to teach the world how to eat their way to vibrant health. This week’s Foodie Friday is the epitome of wholesome, healthy living. Bec Ronald is a fellow Sunshine Coast native (although now she dwells in Brisbane), she surfs, she moves her body daily, she is a healthy food junkie, and she has one of the nicest personalities and sunniest dispositions ever. Bec is a model and ambassador for Lorna Jane. If you’ve stepped inside a Lorna Jane store or had a look at the Lorna Jane website, you’ll probably recognise her face.

If you follow me on Instagram, it’s no secret that I have a love affair with a little organic vegan café here on the Sunshine Coast called Ground. The day they opened their doors in Buderim, all of my prayers for a healthy and yummy café with impeccable integrity were answered. Ground does everything right – from the meals and desserts they create, to the produce they use, and even the water they use to prepare everything. Plus, the two young owners – James and Monique – are the most kind and genuine people ever.
Not only am I super pumped to share this Q&A with Monique with you, but I’m beyond excited that Monique agreed to share one of my favourite recipes from Ground. Every time I go there (which is every week) I order either the Sunflower Stack or the Bruschetta – both of which are made on top of the sunflower bread you will learn how to make in today’s recipe.

I’m a little bit in love with this week’s Foodie Friday. I stumbled across the blog, This Rawsome Vegan Life, a couple of months ago, and ever since I’ve been both enamored and in awe of it’s Canadian creator, Emily von Euw.
Her recipes are the most creative and drool-inducing I’ve ever seen, her photographs are incredible quality, and her words are witty and wise. Did I mention that Em is only 19? Man, when I was 19 the only thing I could cook was pumpkin soup. From a can. And even then I would over cook it.

I’m such a floozy when it comes to crushing on food blogs, but it’s hard to stay committed when there are so many amazing ones out there! My latest crush is Lauren Glucina from Ascension Kitchen. She has the killer combo – mouth-watering recipes decorated by stunning photographs and easy-to-digest information to explain why the dishes are so good for you.
Lauren is a raw foodie from Sydney whose enthusiasm for food and skill for turning it into art had me at the first click of her site. I hope you love her stuff just as much.
