Dried fruit seems to be a popular snack food for young children, and adults. It conjures up the image of a healthy alternative to sweets. You’ll find piles of dried fruits in the health food stores, and from that we assume that it’s a healthy food. But is it?Read More
I go through phases with my books. When I first started educating myself about wellness, I devoured every nutrition book I could find. Then, I started reading spiritual tomes non-stop. And then, I didn’t want to read anything besides fiction that had nothing to do with work. Now, I’m revisiting the foodie books. Full circle.Read More
It’s that time of year again here in Australia. Every time we turn on the telly we’re inundated with pleas to rush to the doctor to have a flu jab. God forbid we let our immune systems do their jobs! It peeves me off something fierce.
Our bodies are equipped for protection. When we do right by them, they’ll carry us through winter without too much of a hitch. Sure, we may get a minor cold, the sniffles, or a fever, but that isn’t really anything to panic over. These are just symptoms of our bodies cleansing themselves and bringing themselves back to homeostasis. When we suppress this process with drugs – or try to stop it from occurring altogether with a vaccine – we’re messing with a natural process that really only has our best interest at heart. The band-aid is applied and we haven’t dealt with the root cause.Read More
Cravings are loud. They kick and shout. They’re obnoxious and relentless like a tantruming toddler.
When a craving hits me, I feel like there’s something switched on inside me, driving me with wild-eyed force until it has been fulfilled.
Many a time when they hit, I would find myself at the counter of a convenience store happily chatting to the clerk while I purchased family sized blocks of chocolate or entire buckets of ice cream. Then I would scurry home to wolf down the lot in solitude and hide the evidence before my partner got home.Read More
After years of tummy upsets, I’ve experimented with a whole range of remedies to soothe a cramping, bloated and down-right-messed-up digestive system. Among the successful remedies I’ve found have been colloidal silver, homeopathic drops, Mora therapy, massage, and living in line with my truth. But sometimes, I simply want something in the physical world that takes action, soothes my gut and give me almost immediate relief. Enter the herb I’m about to share with you.Read More
Five years ago today, at 9am, I slipped away from my desk at Dolly magazine and walked to my hand doctor’s office with excitement. Two weeks prior I’d had surgery to remove fluid on my left middle finger and biopsies to try and work out why I had strange little lumps popping up all over my hand arm. Being a firm fixture on the Sydney social scene, the cast I’d had to wear for the two weeks was a drag. It was uncomfortable and impossible to hide in photographs, and I was peeved off having to type with one hand at work. With the MTV awards just two days away, I was keen to get the thing off.Read More
I recently wrote a post outlining my pick of the best blenders on the market, and it was so popular that it sparked requests for the juicer equivalent of such a review. So, here it is! I’ve got a more in-depth guide to buying the right juicer inside The Lifestyle Transformation Guide, but for now here’s a quick overview of the top juicers I recommend.Read More
One of my amazing Lifestyle Transformation Guide tribe members emailed me the other day to ask my permission to post a review of The LTG on her own blog. Her post was so beautiful, and sums up the program and it’s transformational powers so much that I wanted to share it with you guys.Read More
In a couple of weeks it will have been three years since I started Gerson Therapy, and one year since I completed it. However, when I say ‘completed it’, I don’t mean stop-all-together-and-go-back-to-eating-crap. Far from it. These days, my diet is still very much rooted in the Gerson foundation and I absolutely love it.Read More
It’s no secret I’m a fan of the smoothie. Every second picture I post on Instagram is a visual nod to the great, blended drink. Smoothies are a staple of my diet. Green ones, in particular, but I also love a good berry or cacao dessert-type smoothie on occasion. Barely a day goes by that I don’t use my blender, and I even have an e-book with over 80 green smoothie recipes that you will score for free when you sign up for my newsletters. So, it’s no surprise that I’m constantly being asked for advice on which blender to buy.Read More
