healthtalks Episode 1

I’m interrupting Foodie Friday this week (just this once) because today is the day we can finally reveal our latest virtual baby to the world! I am so excited to share the very first episode of healthtalks with you. In this episode, you will have a chance to hear about what healthtalks is all about, plus a little bit more about my co-hosts and I.

If you missed previous posts about healthtalks, this is a wellness web TV series I am working on with three amazing ladies – Nat Kringoudis (Chinese medicine doctor and natural fertility expert), Samantha Gowing (super star organic chef), and Melissa Ambrosini (my soul sister and fellow health coach).

This is the first of our seven episode series, and the next six will be posted every Tuesday morning from 16 October on each of our websites. The episodes can be viewed on each of these links:

Me – thewellnesswarrior.com.au/category/healthtalks/

Mel – pathtowellness.com.au/category/healthtalks/

Nat – melbournenaturalfertility.com.au/

Sam – http://foodhealthwealth.com/healthtalks

or here on Facebook – facebook.com/HealthTALKSTV

Without further rambling, I give you healthtalks episode 1:

What did you think? We would love to have your feedback, so leave any comments in the section below. Also, feel free to let us know what topics you would like covered on healthtalks. This project is all about the information you want to hear, so be vocal!

Positive affirmation for the day:
I live in the present moment, where all of the magic is.

Hi Jessica and gorgeous ladies.
Fantastic video I can’t wait to watch, listen and participate in the following videos and sharing with our WhatcanIeat.com.au followers and community.
Thank you for being my inspiration today.

Really looking forward to the upcoming episodes. Great idea & way to share with everyone.
I put your first episode on while I did the laundry so I could listen and do my chores at the same time!
Perfect xx

This is so exciting. You all look amazing!
I would love to see lots of healthy and easy cooking tips. I think so many people eat crap because they are so busy so I would love for you guys to show that eating healthy can be easy as well! I would also love to hear learn more on hormonal health. I think the post last week on the pill generated alot of discussion and would love to hear more about this. Especially for those that are trying to get off the pill without side effects.
Keep up the great work ladies!!

How exciting. I really look forward to tuning into this each week. What a great move by four extremely talented women.

I would LOVE to know how to get your beautiful glowing skin?! The camera is most definitely your friend!

I’m looking forward to get lots of new information and practical and helpful tips of making changes to my day to day life to improve my and my family’s wellbeing.

I know that the health talks will be inspiring, I just hope that they are achievable. So I mean this in a very constructive way, I hope that the health talks will be relevant to all viewers, regardless of their ‘stage’ of their health journey, their socioeconomic status, their home situation, their work situation, etc. That anyone who watches can take some sort of positive action away and not be made to feel guilty for their current lifestyle, behaviours or actions, rather, be inspired to make some changes to improve their mind, body and/or soul and not feel like it is too big, too hard, too unattainable in their current situation.

Thanks girl! Looking forward to next Friday!

I agree with Hannah’s comment. Also, am wondering (and I hope you take this as a spark of interest-a topic for debate rather than accusation, as that is definitely not what I intend), how do you strike a balance in promoting this holistic, ‘love-yourself’ approach, and choosing to portray the message in a seemingly glamorous setting? You ladies look v polished, ‘made-up’ (i.e. make-up, high-end fashion) for the tv… I can’t quite help but wonder if that runs counter to a message which says that stuff doesn’t matter so much? In a recent video, Jess mentioned that it’s important not to get caught up in the superficial nature of things… but this show is definitely ‘glam.’ Do you think it might be alienating certain people/portraying wellness as something that is only for those who can afford it? Thoughts?

Hattie » Hi Hattie, I don’t think that just because someone is passionate about wellness and promoting self kindness and clean living that they need to change the way they dress. I LOVE dressing up and wearing glamorous clothes … in the right setting. I certainly don’t look like this when I’m at home. I wear old clothes with juice stains on them, and I never wear make-up unless I am going out or speaking or filming something. When these opportunities come up I relish in the chance to get dressed up, because I get a kick out of it. It’s one part of my former life that I miss sometimes. All of the make-up we wear is organic and natural as well – I never put anything on my skin that isn’t, and I think it is good to promote that this kind of make-up looks every bit as good as the toxic stuff. The clothing that I am wearing in this clip is not overly expensive either – nothing that I own is. I know that not everyone shares our love of getting dressed up, but I don’t think we should change the way we look and dress to suit anyone. It is important not to get caught up in superficial things when you place more value on the glamorous trimmings than what is underneath. Looking to this stuff as your only source of happiness will never be fulfilling. However, if you have your priorities right and know that you are amazing and beautiful even without the trimmings, I don’t feel like there is any harm in having fun with them. xx

PS: We won’t be this glam every week. We dressed up special for the pilot!

Thank you for taking the time to reply Jess :) I like what you say about “[knowing] that you are amazing and beautiful even without the trimmings.” I suppose as someone who is drawn to a more ‘relaxed’ style of fashion (minimal makeup, floaty fabrics etc), I feel less connected to the ‘glamorous’ portrayal… but that is obviously my own perspective, and you’re right, no one should change the way they look and dress to suit anyone else! Sometimes I struggle to find a balance, in what I do as well as what I see in the media/internet, which sometimes strikes me as contradictory… it’s hard finding that balance! But know Im a big fan of yours – I love the information you provide, and that you’re a real inspiration. Thanks again for your time xx.

I don’t think this is ‘glam’. I think these girls just take pride in how they look – Nothing wrong with looking nice and making an effort – it makes you feel good to care for yourself. All part of the healing process. I prance around the house in weird looking getups just for fun. Faith

Great to have a show talk dedicated to health concerns! Keep it up :)

I totally agree! A realistic talk show with positive energy that is educational, not bias and dedicated to improving wellness :)

I was honestly watching this with the biggest smile on my face, I know a bit about each of the member of healthtalks already, but hearing all your stories again and together was hugely inspiring and insightful and I cannot wait to hear all the great information.

Great meeting you all. This is going to be fabulous, looking forward to Episode 2!

Wow! That was delightful. Can’t wait for the next instalment :-)

Am looking forward to sharing this with friends and families, the ones that I cannot seem to communicate well with, using my own words. This will make it easier to help other people realise that there is a wonderful journey out there for better health and wellbeing.

Love it Jess!!! I look forward to watching every episode!

Congrats, ladies! :)

Loved it!! It was like watching the View only more healthy and interesting. Keep em coming :) )

Hi ladies,

Love this! Congrats.

I have a question — We can see how passionate and knowledgeable you are about food, health, wellness, & loving yourself. I’m excited for this show. With total respect I’m distracted by the choice to wear fur by 2 of your hosts.

I know that you are aware that we are all connected on this planet. The suffering by animals for fur, meat, & neglect is a reflection of our society. People look to you for inspiration and information. You have the power to inform and create change so we all live a life of love, happiness and health.

With love,
Nicole

I am sure that has to be fake fur – (I led the anti fur movement in Sydney which resulted in the closure of many fur shops). I can’t imagine that such enlightened souls would wear dead animals. Loving you girls!!!!!

With love, Faith

Faith » Yes, faux fur it is! xx

Looks great!

Looking forward to the coffee enema performance!

Wonderful energy. Love how your hands-on approach – you live what you believe and you share it!

LOVE! So looking forward to watching your upcoming episodes!

I love the show and cant wait for the following weeks! So great to see awesome chicks kickin butt.

Hi! Obviously it’s Nat here. I’m completely blown away by the level of support, positive commons and best wishes sent by all. I wanted to jump on here to Jess’ site to tell you that it doesn’t go unnoticed from my side of the fence! We’re keen to bring you more (and more!!) – and with your support, healthtalks can be all that YOU want it to be! Thanks so much for the amazing feedback! x

Fun times wellness ladies!

Four beautiful, healthy, passionate women, very inspiring.

I am also quite grateful that there are some past party pests in there; makes me feel like I can make it too!

I would have to agree with Lyn, some fast and yummy cooking tips would be amazing. Other than that, just keeping sharing your lovely selves and all that wisdom.

Thank you, can’t wait to see the future episodes!

x

Think it looks promising, can’t wait! however my critical feedback is that at the beginning (or maybe you girls were just nervous) but it came across as quite sterile, sort of ‘The Circle’ vibe going on there.
I think its good each hosts brings a different ‘message’ However I just hope your personalities shine through individuality.

Oooh I loved it! Amazing ladies.Cant wait to see more! Jess ur totally famous haha, dont forget us. So proud of you. xxx

Ladies – loved the first episode ! Great job.
Can’t wait to see what dishes you cook up in the kitchen.
That’s one thing I really want to learn more about, what foods are good for us and how to create tasty, easy meals from these healthy ingredients.

Yay!!! , First of all, Congratulations on your first episode and Thank you .. look forward to all future episodes =D x

Well done ladies! It’s wonderful to see such vibrant young women embracing living a caring life towards themselves and sharing your experiences with others. People do live ‘busy’ lives and neglect the most important part of their life so if you can show them that living a healthy life is achievable – that’s great! I look forward to future episodes. Once again, WELL DONE!

Love it! Thank you!

Nice to meet you all…thanks for sharing your love, passion and knowledge with us all:)

Great Stuff Ladies, Looking forward to more!!

Juicy!! Bold!! Defying traditional medicine, I luv it!! How exciting, so looking forward to the next episode. Thankyou amazing ladies for creating the space to speak the truth and empower so many other women (and men) so happy and proud to spread your work to get into the hearts, lives and homes of other xx

Hi Jess,
Loved the first talk. I travel a lot with work (away from home 3-4 nights a week) and would love to see some tips on how to stay healthy while travelling.

Excellent ladies. Can’t wait for more!

Wonderful! I am so excited to be able to tune into such interesting and relevant health information presented in a fun and inclusive way. Thanks guys! Can’t wait for the next episode!

Hi All! Loved it, can’t wait to watch every week :) I would love to hear about all of your thoughts about all the different types of hair removal ie waxing, lazer, etc like what you guys do/recommend. Love all of your blogs, love & light, Olivia.

I’ll be watching. And I hope this will give me the final push i need to start doing home enemas!

The passion you girls have for your chosen areas is so contagious. I look forward to seeing the up coming episodes. Well done to you all.

This is great! What I love is the diversity of topics and your honesty. I am looking forward to each episode. I hope you discuss the importance of chinese medicine, the power of traditional and medicinal herbs and acupuncture. Our herb pillow is extremely powerful and helpful to aid in natural health.

Thanks girls….you are amazing and inspiring and I so agree with what you say about empowering your own self with love and colourful, live food. I wish that you could be on all the tvs around the country morning and night teaching people how they can have healthier happier lives instead of all the blah blah blah ho hum that drones on day after day. I have been on a complete detox since June this year (to accompany my husband who was diagnosed with an ‘incurable’ blood cancer) eliminating sugar, alcohol, dairy, gluten, tea, coffee and red meat and we are feeling amazing! His latest blood tests even show a decline in the elevated protein levels, which is exactly what we were hoping for. So instead of fearing the next ‘check up’, we are looking forward to seeing his body re-balancing and becoming well again. This is such exciting stuff!!!! The way you girls deliver your messages of health and happy living is just perfection. Well done!!! Looking forward to the episodes to come.

LOVE IT! Thankyou, I’m so grateful for you four ladies for bringing Health Talks to us xx

sooooo good! I am so happy to see you all doing this! You are going to change lives!

This was Great Jess! I loved all of your sharing and wow what a beautiful group of women to listen to each week. I am so excited for you. You Go Ladies!!

Hi ladies, can you please cover in one of your upcoming segments adrenal fatigue and thyroid problems? I am currently trying to get my boday sorted out and it looks like this might be part of the issue. I’d love to know more about your experiences and solutions. Thanks girls, you are so inspiring :)
