She had me at her love of coconuts. This week’s star foodie is Teisha Lowry – Aussie model and founder of the organic skincare label INDAH Organics. Everything about Teisha is just gorgeous – she is obviously stunning, but her beauty runs deep and also seeps out into her beauty range. INDAH products are all coconut oil based and all organic, pure, and yummy. I’m so excited to share her organic lifestyle secrets with you.
Meet Teisha…
What was the catalyst that turned you into a healthy foodie?
A lot of it has to do with my mum. We always had a huge organic veggie patch in our backyard and she always taught me to support local farmers and buy local. I met my partner, Darren Cox, four years ago (A Metabolic Typing Advisor/Functional Diagnostic Nutritionist and Advanced Functional Personal Trainer). He is a huge influence on me and what I put in my body, he has opened up my eyes to organic living and feeding my body the right nutrients, and I’ve never looked back. Now it’s our responsibility to learn more and more and help others.
What are your non-negotiables when it comes to your diet?
I stay clear of processed food, sugar, gluten and wheat. If I eat meat it has to be organic, free range and grass fed.
Why do you eat the way you eat?
Because I have to be at my best, I don’t have time to get sick. If I’m tired or unwell I’m not being the best person I can be for myself and others.
If you were trying to convert someone to your dietary philosophy, what would you make for them?
A clean meal that is according to their metabolic type. Everybody is unique and that includes the type of foods they require to fuel and replenish them. There’s no fad dieting with my food, it’s a lifestyle, and if I can convert one person, my job is done!
How do you stay healthy while travelling?
I can’t eat plane food! If I do the person next to me is in trouble. When I get to my location I always Google or ask the locals for the closest health food stores, organic grocers and restaurants. No matter how tired I am I’ll make a trip and stock up on food and plan, plan, plan my day. With this lifestyle you have to be organised.

What are your go-to meals and snacks when you are super busy?
Luckily I have a great partner who is always cooking and preparing our meals. I always have soaked nuts, fruit, raw veggies on standby when I’m on the road. It’s important for me not to skip a meal, if I do I’m super irritable.
Juices or smoothies: Which do you prefer? What’s your favourite combination?
I love smoothies! They’re my little treat after dinner, – berries, raw milk, coconut cream, coconut water, bananas, apple cider vinegar, flax, chlorophyll and cocoa powder…delish! Oh I’m craving one now
What’s the biggest nutrition misconception you are always having to clear up for people?
Saturated fat is one of the biggest misconceptions out there. We have been brought up to believe that it’s bad for us. Part of what I do is selling coconut oil and it’s the base of all of my products. It has up to 92% saturated fat. Fats are important for complete health and wellbeing and coconut oil is by far the richest source of MCFAs (64% Medium Chain Fatty Acids) it produces energy, not fat and has no effect on blood cholesterol – it actually helps fight heart disease. There are so many uses for this amazing oil! So many in fact, I’m writing a book about it.
If you could prepare a meal for anyone (dead or alive) who would it be and what would you make?
If I could have ALL of my family together, that would be a dream come true. I wish I could bring my sister back, I’d love to introduce her to my partner’s family. Share our jokes and dreams over seafood BBQ overlooking the ocean, back home in Western Australia – that would be bliss.
What does being a Wellness Warrior mean to you?
I can make little changes on a community level, by bringing back the integrity and healing our environment and health using organic ingredients in my beauty range and my food. I’m committed to quality organic products and spreading the truth in beauty. I try and provide one of the purest beauty products in the market, I have nothing to hide and will not stop exposing nasty ingredients and industries that are pulling wool over our eyes. If more people take notice of where we spend our money it will go back in to our community and support not only our future generations, but create more jobs in organic farming, clean-up our water supply, and best of all – make us healthy!

You will need:
INDAH Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
Can of organic Coconut Cream (unrefined)
2 cups of cauliflower, pieces
2 cups of broccoli, pieces
½ cup of carrots, sliced
1 bunch of beans, chopped
1 bunch of snow peas
1 bunch of asparagus, chopped
3 spring onions, chopped
A few bay leaves
½ banana diced
Cinnamon
Ground:
1 tablespoon fresh ginger
1 tablespoon garlic
Dash of salt and pepper
What to do:
1. Heat coconut oil on medium heat, add in bay leaves to sauté for a minute.
2. Add spring onions, ginger, garlic and pinch of salt and pepper, sauté for 30 seconds.
Add carrots, beans and cauliflower and stir in coconut cream. Adjust coconut cream for consistency. Stir in for a minute. Add in the rest of your veggies, stir altogether with a dash of salt and pepper. Stir occasionally over 8 minutes on low heat. The idea is to keep your heat low, as you want your veggies still crunchy.
3. Serve with a bit of banana on top and a sprinkle of cinnamon for sweetness.

The biggest take home message from this interview is that even when you are tired you have to prepare and plan. She gets off a plane and goes to the closest health food store, that is complete dedication to herself and her own health. I think eating for yourself and your body is so beneficial and you deserve the best, but it does take a lot. You have to be dedicated to your decision and always plan and have food with you. At least that’s what I am starting to realise.
Wow…i love this post…i am instantly going over to check out her site…i love the curry vegetables with the banana and the smoothie recipe sounds divine…i am instantly motivated to whip up something healthy…thanks..

Well, there’s my dinner for the night! Sounds delish
I love coconut! Sounds delicious!
I often make a similar coconut vegetable dish but add in spices – had not thought of adding banana, though, so I will try that. Interesting that you put ACV in your smoothie – I haven’t tried that either. Thanks for the tips! Sonia
Love it
I had heard that coconut oil was a saturated fat so appreciate knowing that someone so beautiful finds it healthy! Nothing better than adding a little flavor (fat!) to dishes that are mostly fruits and vegetables.
Cocounut oil is fantastic. I make delicious sugarless sweet treats and put it on my skin. I have ‘discovered’ it here on Jess’ site. Yum and great!
