8 Things I’m Loving At The Moment

Posted October 15, 2012

I’m loving October in general at the moment. The weather is so freaking nice, that it is pretty hard to wear a grey mood. I have been busy with so many fun projects, PLUS I am heading over the LA and New York at the end of the month for a couple of weeks. Tallon and I are going over to hang in LA for a couple of days, and then head to New York so that I can attend Marie Forleo’s RHH Live event. This is my first big trip since I went to the Gerson clinic 2.5 years ago. Oh, happy days.

This is what else is on my love this at the moment:

1. THE HEALING CANCER WORLD SUMMIT (FEATURING ME!)

Last year I eagerly tuned in for Kevin Gianni’s Healing Cancer World Summit, every day soaking up the wisdom, information and inspiration from some of the world’s leading cancer experts. So you can imagine how wet-my-pants excited I was when I received an email from Kevin’s assistant a couple of months ago asking me if I would like to be interviewed for the Summit this year. ‘Ah, HELLS YEAH!’ was my eloquent response.

If you click on this page, you will see my mug among an impressive line up including Kris Carr, Mike Adams, Howard Straus (Charlotte Gerson’s son), Dr. Nicolas Gonzalez, Dr. Francisco Contreras, and Dr. Leigh Erin Connealy. You can also watch a powerful video and learn about what the Summit entails. In a nutshell, the event is designed to show you that there are options when it comes to healing cancer – lots of them.

This is a totally FREE online event, so go here to sign up now.

2. INSTAGRAM

After holding out for so long, I finally succumbed and recently traded in my Blackberry for an iPhone. One of the reasons I did this is so that I can join everyone on Instagram. And now I am hooked. Addicted to the point where I can’t eat a meal or drink a smoothie without giving everyone pictorial evidence. I love it! If you’re on there too, look me up. I’m @jessainscough

3. HEALTHTALKS

We launched healthtalks just over a week ago, and we have been blown away by the support and interaction from you. So, I wanted to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you. One of the reasons this show is so good is because it gives us a chance to collaborate with you. If you tell us what you wan to know about, we will make it our mission to deliver. Episode two hits screens tomorrow, so stay tuned!

4. CHOC MINT TEA

Fresh chocolate mint with cacao nibs = the best tea ever. All you need to do is put fresh mint or chocolate mint leaves into your teapot with a teaspoon of cacao nibs, add boiling water and allow to infuse and create magic. It’s delicious!

5. CREATIVE SALADS

I tell anyone who will listen that eating a salad every day is one of the best things we can do for our bodies. Now that the weather is getting steamy here in Australia, it’s all I feel like eating. I’ve been getting creative with my salads lately and adding yummy treats like goji berries, chia seeds, pistachio nuts, and toasted coconut flakes. I’ve also been making amazing dressings with herbs from our garden. Blend up basil, coriander, flaxseed oil, apple cider vinegar and cashews and you have yourself some green saucy heavy.

6. RAW KARMA

Hayley from Raw Karma is a sweet genius. Pages and pages of amazing desserts that are also healthy. What else is there to say? Click on over and prepare to salivate and be inspired immediately.

7. THE GODDESS DIET E-BOOK

My gorgeous friend, Nadine Ominski, has just launched her very first e-book. The Goddess Diet: Feed Your Body, Mind & Soul. With her soulful manner, Nadine has packaged up all of her nutrition knowledge into a digital tome that will lead the way to a life of authenticity, passion, meaning and a whole of delicious wholesome food. Queensland in October is, as you say, so freaking beautiful!
Creative salads are rocking my world too. This is going to sound strange, but last night’s was: baby spinach, red onion, sweet potato, orange, avocado and crushed peantus with a lime-chilli-Asian dressing. It was super delicious – tangy and yumza!
Your New York trip sounds super exciting. I hope we get to hear all about it! xo

My fave thing to top a salad with at the moment is sweet potato or pumpkin sliced thinly, coated in coconut oil and baked until crisp. They’re addictive, but in a good way :)

Jess, I was wondering about your thoughts on using mobile phones, and whether you have any specific gadgets to protect yourself. I’ve read somewhere that the iphones are one of the worst to have, and wonder whether the kind of phone makes a difference.
Thanks.

Hi Cheryl, I have been wondering the same thing. I don’t have pockets in my work pants so I have been keeping my phone tucked into my bra while going to other departments/buildings on my hospital campus. A friend told me she was concerned that I would get breast cancer, but I literally have nowhere else to put it. It has a case behind it but I still wonder if it is enough protection.

Does anyone else have any thoughts on this matter?

So glad to hear everything is falling into place for you Jess!
Your hard work has paid off :)

Your #2 pictures look like my “loving things all the time” different man and different dogs, but same concept with the green smoothies, loves in my life, superfoods, greens for juicing, treats with reads and I LOVE the chocolate mint tea – I have loads of chocolate mint, orange mint, apple mint and of course, cacao nibs – SO making this!! XO

Thank you so much Jess!!
That tea sounds epic soo making that!
You’re gorgeous xoxoxoxoxoxox

That salad looks INCREDIBLE. Yum. Waaaay more exciting than any of my salads have ever looked.
By the way, I might have done a little happy dance when I saw you now have a instagram account. Yay!

Thanks so much Jess :) It means a lot!!! You’re lovely! xx

All great stuff! We’re doing an October Yoga Instagram challenge & having tons of fun with a pose each day- would love you to join us & see all the amazing yoga photos that are being taken each day.

Loving the yoga instagram challenge!

Thanks a lost by the news about cancer summit 2012 and congratulation for your participation. With love.

Im also loving instagram (@jorjawoodward), raw chocolate, lemongrass and ginger tea and coconut oil! Great post as always Jess, loving health talks and cant wait for more!

Jorja xo

I love the idea of your green dressing – going to try that!!

Hi Jess,
How fantastic about the healing cancer world summit! Its wonderful that there are alternative ways to fighting cancer, as the traditional ones can be so invasive and harmful to other areas of our bodies.
Our everyday diet has such a significant contribution to PREVENTING cancer as well, as I’m sure you are a definite advocate for.
Your chocolate mint tea sounds amazing- I can’t wait to make your version with choc mint leaves!
I make a similar concoction-Organic red African cacao powder (pure, no sugar added) with loose-leaf organic spearmint leaves and a dash of honey and cinnamon.
The important thing to note about using cocoa nibs and cocoa powder is to make sure they have NOT been processed with Alkali (I.E. Dutch processing or “Dutching”)!
This ensures flavanol (flavan-3-ol) antioxidant levels are are at their maximum-ready to boost overall [especially cardiovascular] health.
Fabulous post as always,
Health and happiness,
Vanessa <3
