I’m Back! Here’s A Snapshot of My Savasana Week
Best Decision Ever! I feel so recharged after my week-long blog savasana that any weird guilt I created for myself totally dissipated as soon as I felt the relief that came along with mental space. Ah, space … I don’t know why I’ve resisted you for so long. I cleaned, I cleared, I de-cluttered, I culled, and I made room for all of the brilliance I know the universe has in store for me. I now totally get that we won’t attract everything that is meant for us unless we clear out the old to make room for the shiny and new.
THIS IS WHAT I DID …
+ Cleared out my bookshelf and cleaned my desk.
+ Wrote fun blog posts.
+ Worked on The Lifestyle Transformation Guide.
+ Drank green smoothies on the grass.
+ Made chocolate.
Recipe:
110g raw almonds
170g coconut oil (solid)
4 tbs cacao
A handful of medjool dates, chopped
¼ cup maple syrup (or more if you like it sweet)
1. Line a baking dish with non-stick paper. Place in the freezer to chill while you mix up the ingredients.
2. Grind almonds in a blender or food processor until they are fairly fine (not a powder though).
3. Melt coconut oil in a saucepan over gentle heat (don’t let it get too hot).
4. Remove from heat and stir in the cacao, almonds, dates and maple syrup.
5. Pour the mixture into the dish, making sure it spreads out thinly and evenly.
6. Put into the freezer until it has set, and then keep in the freezer between pig outs.
+ Watched a lot of Revenge.
+ Listened to Ben Howard. His cover of Call Me Maybe is so good.
+ And then rounded off the week with a visit to my friend Nicola Chatham. We ate lunch and drank tea with herbs from her organic garden, and hung out in her gorgeous country home. The teas were brewed with fresh mint and pineapple sage, and Nic introduced me to an amazing leafy green called sorrel. So tasty, so zesty, and so much yummier than any other salad green I’ve eaten!
AND TO REWARD ME FOR MAKING SPACE …
Right on cue, something new entered my life. Two exciting opportunities came to me a couple of days into my savasana. I’m not able give away details just yet, but I promise to as soon as I can.
WANNA SEE ME SPEAK?
If you’re in Brisbane on 3rd of October, come along and see me speak at the Pure Living Workshop. I will be joining Cyndi O’Meara, Therese Kerr (Miranda’s mama) and Dr Libby Weaver on stage to talk about how cool (and beneficial) it is to live a pure and clean life. Click here for ticket info.
Did you have a nice week while I was away? Did you create space in your life too?
Positive affirmation for the day: I love the life I am creating for myself.

Do we have to wait much longer for your guide!? Cant wait to start!
Glad you had an awesome week Jess x
That’s fantastic that you felt so recharged Jess! It’s hard to get away from that guilt about taking time for yourself, but whenever I actually manage to do it I realise how good it is and how well it enables you to put refreshed energy into your projects when you return to them!
Sorrel is delicious and super easy to grow! I’m sure Nicola gave you lots of tips, but mine virtually takes care of itself. Pop some in your garden and try!
Look forward to hearing about your new projects!
Welcome back Jess, and thanks for inspiring (and maybe giving permission) for us all to do something similar. And this is the perfect time of year to take this kind of break too. I’m definitely going to take a leaf from your book, and clear some space in my life and in my head, ready for the new starts that spring always brings.
Please tell me how many cups are equal to 179 g of the coconut oil!
Love your blog. Thank you for sharing all that you have learned. You are a real inspiration.
oops….meant 170 g!
170 gram = 0.719 cup [US] from onlineconversion.com

Hi Jess,
Can you tell me again where you studied? I am looking into Nutrition or Naturopathy courses. Do you have any tips or advice for a novice?
Thanks

of your energy of this past week to move ahead.

welcome back Jess
So loving Ben Howard at the moment too! Haven’t pretty much listened to nothing else for the last month. Yay for what sounds the perfect week.
Huzzah. Well done. Very much learning the lesson of creating space in my life right now. It makes a huge difference to everything!
You are such an inspiration.
Thank you all the way from Greece
Hi Jess,
Good for you on the de-cluttering! I am doing the same thing. What I am doing in my home is to look at each object and ask myself if I love it and if I don’t OUT it goes. It makes life so much nicer not to have to PROTECT so much. That is a waste of energy. You look like the picture of health, God Bless, Sheri
A TV marathon, good friends, some cleaning, and good food make everything alright! I am obsessed with the TV show Revenge…I think I watched it in three days.
Glad your back
Hi!
I want to say that I love your blog and inspiring words. Been thinking alot of getting my own clutter in my life and nothing is better than confirmation!!
Thanks again
It’s so good that you allowed yourself time to rest and create space Jess. And yes, right on cue, something new and inspiring entered your life! I’m glad you enjoyed your blog savasana…but really glad you’re back too! <3
I tried your chocolate recipe! Unfortunately I’m not the biggest fan of coconut. Is there something I can replace the coconut with?
Rachel S » Hi Rachel, I am not too sure. Coconut oil is the only base I am aware of for this recipe. Might be good to Google other raw chocolate recipes and see what you find. x
I gave the recipe a try, but used 80grams of coconut oil and 90grams of raw cocoa butter. You could try 170grams of coca butter instead of coconut oil – it should set better too.
the chocolate recipe turned out AMAZING!! i actually prefer it to the shops raw stuff – and you can add in whatever nut or fruit you like (I added cranberries to mine)
Thanks Jess!
glad to have found you
