8 Things I’m Loving At The Moment
Super talented design genius Sian Richardson (you may recall her work from my e-book Make Peace With Your Plate) has teamed up with Bernadette Jiwa to give us Striking Truths – A Manifesto A Day. Everyday I am blessed with a beautifully designed manifesto that either puts a rocket of inspiration under my ass or soothes my soul. I highly, highly recommend signing up so you can receive the same.
2. Gala Darling’s TED talk on radical self love
I love Gala Darling’s mission. Self love is the most important wellness act!
My latest wellness blog obsession comes from the people behind the US juice company, Pressed Juicery. The Chalkboard features posts all about living well. They cover nutrition, yoga, organic beauty, fitness, green living and more. Plus, my favourite Kris Carr is this month’s guest editor.
4. The Quick & Easy Organic Veggie Patch Kit by Nicola Chatham
My friend Nicola Chatham has created an arsenal of free goodies for organic gardening newbies. Not only has she written some amazing stuff, but she has also hand illustrated it – combining both of her loves of art and gardening. Check out The Quick & Easy Organic Veggie Patch Kit and her Sprouter’s Habits poster.
5. Pure Mamas
I spent a shameful chunk of my Friday night possessed by this website. The yummy recipes! The beautiful photographs! The clean layout! I’m enchanted by head mama Juli and her team of contributors. This site is going to be one of my regular visits I think.
6. The Raw Brownie
I have had this recipe from Sarah Britton bookmarked for yonks and last weekend I finally had the chance to give it a go. It definitely did not disappoint. If I hadn’t promised to take it to a friends place that day I may have gobbled it right up out of the blender.
Click here for the recipe. I halved the recipe and added goji berries to mine.
7. Vegie Head Vegan Essentials recipe e-book
My friend Adele the Vegie Head has just launched her first e-book full of amazing vegan dishes. I love Adele’s food. It’s all healthy, all plant-based, and no soy in sight. Click here to check out and buy her e-book for only $7.
8. My new winter morning routine
I don’t know about you, but my body needs more sleep as soon as the temperatures drop and we find ourselves in winter. Waking up at 6am (which is now easy for me to do when it’s warm) is not impossible, and if I drag myself up to my meditation stool at this hour I find that I nod straight back off to sleep. This is not safe, or practical. Which is why I am allowing myself extra sleep and a later start to my day. I sleep in for an extra 45 minutes, and then just do my meditation after breakfast. While this means that I start working an hour later than usual, it’s a compromise my body is loving me for. All part of my quest to do whatever makes me feel good!

It has been a later start for us too Jess! Even our chooks and goats and ducks are adapting to the light hours change … 5:00am it is still dark … listening to our body and adapting our routines accordingly it is what it is all about!!! You are doing an amazing job as usual!!! Big hugs …
I love the Chalkboard Mag! I found them a few months back, and I’ve read so many great posts from them already…and just recently made a delicious banana bread following a recipe I found there! There are so many links that I need to check out though, and the Striking Truths and Raw Brownies are really calling my name right now!
The best part about this post though for me has to be the positive affirmation of the day. I have been struggling to find enough time in the day lately, and just a few minutes back I was stressing out about yet another day in which I haven’t done nearly as much as I wanted to do…talk about perfect timing! Thank you!
Wishing you a great day!
Damn that’s a great pic of those raw brownies!! But not as good as they tasted on Saturday! Thanks for sharing – I bet it was so tempting not to
Love those winter sleep ins!
Superb list! That Ted Talk was pretty powerful – wow…and those brownies, fantastic!
Thanks for introducing me to these sites, I’ll make sure I check them out!
You are such a great role model for showing people to truly look after them selves by listening to their bodies and not to feel guilty about it!
Looking forward to Foodie Friday tomorrow
I love sleep-ins! They are so nurturing to the mind, body and soul…
I love these kind of posts, the raw brownies look to die for and I’m looking forward to watching Gala Darling’s TED talk. I agree with the getting up later, forcing myself out of bed when it’s still pitch black doesn’t seem right! x
Thanks Jessica for some great information today and always – I just loved the Chalkboard website… I recently purchased the Crazy Sexy Diet book and am about to implement it – I checked out Chris’ video too … wow …so courageous !! Just like YOU, it’s amazing how something not so great can come into your life and completely turn it around for the better (not saying there was not a lot of tears and hard work in between) but it is like you were made to learn all of your life lessons in one small window of time. YOU and the likes of Chris and others are destined for greatness. Thanks for your wonderful work and information.
Am really loving this list, Jess- thank you! Have been following Adele (VegieHead) for a while now- such amazing recipes! Thank you especially for introducing me to Gala Darling- what an amazing lady! x
I am love love LOVING The Chalkboard! Such great stuff. Thanks Jess!
I love that you know exactly what your body needs and you allow yourself to take it. I am trying to become more in tune with my body and really listen to what it’s asking for. Thanks for the inspiration gorgeous!
