Wellness Warrior TV: Interview With Anita Moorjani (1 of 2)
I am giddy with excitement to share today’s blog with you. I finished reading a brilliant book not too long ago called Dying To Be Me by Anita Moorjani. This book is about how after battling lymphoma cancer for four long years, Anita was almost on her last breaths. She had tumours from the base of her skull to the bottom of her spine, her lungs were full of fluid, she was so emaciated that she couldn’t hold her own head up, and she had to have medical equipment to assist her with breathing and eating. It was clear to everyone that Anita was dying. Her condition became so grave that she was rushed to hospital and went into a coma. While in the coma, Anita had a near death experience. 30 hours later she awoke from her coma, and four days later her body was healed.
Yes, that’s right. Anita went from having stage 4B cancer to a complete healing in a matter of days.
If you listen to Wayne Dyer on Hay House Radio at all, you may have heard him raving about Anita and her incredibly story. After being introduced to her, Wayne was so impressed that he asked if he could write the forward for her book.
This book has changed my perception of cancer yet again, and has left me even less afraid of its presence in my life. The message I received most strongly from the book is to just let go and surrender to the perfection of the present moment. To stop struggling, and to always act and do things out of love for myself rather than out of fear of cancer.
I had the absolute pleasure of chatting with Anita about her experience, and the incredibly wisdom she gained from it. I am so excited to share this with you guys! The entire interview is about 35 minutes long, so I’ve split it into two parts, which I will roll out today and tomorrow. If you’re at work or can’t sit through it all now, I highly recommend coming back to it later because Anita fires one massive nugget of wisdom after another.
This is what you will hear in Part 1:
+ Anita sharing her story in her own words.
+ What Anita believes was the cause of her cancer.
+ Anita’s advice to those of us healing from cancer naturally and why our focus should not be on “getting rid of the cancer”.

I am one of those people at work, I look forward to listening at home tonight!
Wow – Anita is such a gift!
A recurring theme from so many natural healers. Come from love, from passion, not from fear.
So much of this resonated with me and her kind smile is just infectious!
Thank you for sharing Jess, I look forward to reading Anita’s book much sooner than later.
xx
Wow! thanks Jess…. how important to hear Anita detail the difference between living to AVOID versus living to LIVE…. perfect…. I’m doing this because I love my life, not because I am afraid. Her commentary on the best way to shift your focus is spot on… introduce the new rather than trying to squash the unwanted thoughts. Thanks Anita – filling my day with passion.
Love to you both.
Wow! That was amazing and what Anita was saying was so true get up in the morning because you want to, not because you have to. Jess thankyou for what you are doing for me and I am sure I can say that for everybody!
Sue
Thank you Jess, thank you Anita. Tremendously inspirational and such a fabulous paradigm shift.
hi jess
finding your website is one of the best things that has happened to me since becoming sick. you direct me to so much helpful information. particularly, also, i love that you showed me how to make my hair blonde without hurting my insides
i’m buying this book now. i can totally relate to this lady.
i was reading in a book last night about the Harvard “Mastery of Stress” study and it said that 156 healthy male individuals were asked how they felt about their relationships with their parents (amongst other questions) e.g. (close and warm or strained and cold). 35 years later, it was found that 91% of participants who did not perceive themselves as having a warm relationship with their mothers had been diagnosed with serious diseases in midlife, whereas only 45% of participants who perceived themselves as having a warm relationship with their mothers had any major illness. a similar result could be seen for their relationships with their fathers. for those participants who had strained relationships with mother and father, 100% had been diagnosed with a major disease in midlife. i am one of those people who had constant abandonment, rejection and lack of love from mother and father and before i found the gerson therapy, i was dying … so sick. i find that on the gerson therapy, my thoughts are also healthier but my mother regularly says to me that i am so hard on myself. it’s really horrible but i try not to entertain negative thoughts about myself for as long now because now that i am sick, i can literally feel how beating myself up makes me more unwell. it’s the strangest thing.
Thank you for this insight Leesa! The ‘Mastery of Stress’ study is giving me a lot to think about – and hopefully think and feel different about. Thank you.
Please tell me, how do you make your hair blonde without harming yourself? Thank you! I would be so happy to have that information. I need to read that book as well.
Ann » Hi Ann, I don’t do anything to my hair at all anymore. But I used to spray it with 3% hydrogen peroxide to lighten it up. This is the only natural way to do it, but it does dry the hair out a fair bit which is why I’m giving my hair a break and going natural. x
I had such a surge of excitement when I saw the subject line of this blog post Jess!! I bought Anita’s book a few weeks ago on a totally synchronistic day, and am on a second read now, and to see her wonderful face and hear her voice here has added another layer of ‘reality’ to her amazing, love-filled message and story. I loved your clarifying questions which lead to Anita being really specific with what she meant by saying that ‘fear’ was the driver in her lack of wellness. Made it even clearer than the book. Can’t wait for part two! Big thanks xo
Amazing Jess, thanks for sharing with us. I took SO much from this. I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and my days are mostly focussed on getting better. It’s so easy to get down about the situation you are placed in and focus on what you can’t do rather than can do and doing what we love to do. What a great message for everyone!
Can’t wait for the next installment.
Thanks again xx
Wow! Thank you, thank you! Her discussion of fear is profoundly helpful. Smiling ear to ear as I write this. Lots of love and light.
Thanks Jess and Anita. Thanks for shining your special light into our souls and for giving so freely of yourselves. Lives are changing because of your sharing. Although I have the qualification as a naturopath, I am a firm believer no herb, food or supplement compares to our own inherent power of healing. Blessings x Rachel @ The Wellness Wench.
I too loved Anita’s book & my mum and dad have just finished it! Great first part
Ladies, you are changing lives and giving hope with your work !!! Blessings. x
My brain does not know how to react. My body is very very still trying to listen. Will this knowledge change the world forever? Can I please let it change me forever? Thank you.
Your comment really moved me….here’s another one that a friend wrote on her facebook that change me to my cellular structure….
“There you are….playing the part that somebody else assigned you…making other people’s motions because you’re too frightened to be still.”
What a great interview.
You are such an inspiration Jess and thank you for taking the time to share you story and the story of others.
My father passed away from cancer and since then I have been health conscious for both myself and my children. Everyday I learn something new to help me on my journey for better health.
I love sharing your page constantly.
Thank you.
What a great interview! She is remarkable! I got pretty emotional watching ,so something true clicked for me, now I have to look into the book!

There are no words to even come close to the depth of gratitude I feel, right now, for this timely information. A most sincere thank you, Jess and Anita, for sharing!
Jess, in hindsight of your now two-year Gerson journey and in light of what Anita has shared, is there anything you would do differently? I am on day twenty-two and sometimes it feels too difficult to sustain. Any wisdom nuggets shared would be most appreciated. All love…
Treesa,
I did Gerson for several months and if you don’t mind, I’d like to share some advice with you.
enjoy it !!! every juice and every cofee break… has a healing effect…which you can really tune into ! this is very rewarding !
I found real beauty in the earthiness of the process. even loving the color ! seeing how the green juice would come out the juicer tray green, but the last bit was always an almost clear pink…the last juice to be released from the produce. I am a painter, so I kept thinking about doing water color painting using just those colors…greens and pink. and seeing plants with pinkish stems for example.
I started to really FEEL it as a …practice. every action slow, and beautiful in it’s own right.
healing with food. so foundational. I loved it sooooo much !
hope this helps.
and when you are just tired and over whelmed – take a few minutes to lie down and close your eyes.
even if you need to do so every hour or two.
love.
sandra
Thank you, Sandra for sharing your lovely insights. I appreciate the wisdom nuggets.
With Love and Gratitude,
Treesa
Hi Teresa, I don’t think there is anything that I would do differently besides maybe not counting down the days as much. My advice would be to try not to think that your life will be wonderful when Gerson is finished. It’s a tough regime, but it is also an amazing experience. Enjoy each and every part of it – even the parts when you want to throw things at the walls ha ha. It is difficult, but you will look back on it with so much fondness for the process – I promise. Also, tell yourself how much you love yourself every single day. Wishing you all the best for the rest of your journey!! xx
Thank you, Jess, for sharing your thoughtful reflections with me. It means so much to be able to turn to those who understand, for insight.
With Love and Gratitude,
Treesa
Thankyou Jess for such a wonderful interview and a massive thankyou to Anita also for sharing your truely amazing inspirational story
I am so glad that you did this. I recently listened to the audio version of her book, what an amazing and inspiring story. SO glad more people will hear it, because the idea of unconditional love, the end of fear and her advice can help to create a better world. Thank you!
Jess,
thank you, thank you for this incredible inspiring woman !
I also loved to hear your part of the conversation…which represented all of us…on
our healing paths.
She spoke with so much compassion, wisdom and light.
this is a video…I will be returning to alot.
thanks so much.
it is a new moment.
sandra
Thank you so much for this interview. Anita’s book is amazing (to say the least) and the interview has brought it even more alive for me xx
What an amazing story! Cancer or no cancer – she is sharing the secret to a wonderful life!!!
Always look forward to your Foodie Friday emails, Jess – thank you!
Selina
Thank you for this great interview and a special thank you for Anita for sharing this amazing experience. I just want to share a little bit of myself. It is so true what Anita is saying about our internal emotions being the cause of so many diseases. With Anita it was fear that caused her cancer, but with me I think and now I am pretty sure that it was resentment and bitterness who caused my cancer. I was living a life of resentment for not being loved by my mother since my childhood and feeling discriminated amongst my other sisters and brother, I also felt resentful towards my father who never cared about me. Than after I grew up I was resentful towards my ex-husband for leaving me for a young lady, And finally I was so bitter and resentful against my last boyfriend for cheating and lying and so many other bad things he did to me. Well I was diagnosed with a stomach cancer three years ago and I CAN say that for me it was a blessing because it just changed my mind completely. Today I really live my life loving myself more and living completely free of negative feelings because I realized that they are like poisons for our immune system. It was an awakening for me not only physical but also spiritual. Today I am enjoying more health than before my cancer because I changed 360 degree the way i see life. Thank you Jess and Anita for bringing this awareness to people, maybe this will star a new revolution on the prevention and cure of cancer, because I really believe that cancer has a big, huge emotional component that triggers it.
What a wonderful interview! I can’t wait to read her book!!! Thank you Jess!
Denisa
I think every single person on this planet need to see this interview. I just bought the book a few weeks ago and it is one of the most profound informations I ever came across. This book is not just about healing, it’s so much more! What a story. I am so happy she gets to tell it over and over again, until we understand that unconditional self love is the only way of living worth living.
Amazing interview!
Thank you Jess and Anita!
Thanks, Jess, for the gift of sharing this beautiful story and message! My life will be forever changed for the better.
+Karen
