Do You Want Permission To Be Selfish?
As an only child, I have always been incredibly conscious of being perceived as selfish. So much so that I managed to develop a negative aversion to the word and tried my hardest to always make sure I was the opposite of selfish. Whether this was always achieved is another story. Thing is, there is nothing wrong with being selfish and there is a big difference between the negative sense of the word and the crucial self love meaning.
These days, I am unashamedly selfish. My health and happiness comes first – because I know that when my cup is overflowing I will have more of the good stuff to offer others.
Being selfish has saved my life.
This is why I am so excited to be part of my girl Susana Frioni’s online event Selfish for 27 days. I played along last year and had a blast, but this year the format is a little different and it’s beyond amazing.
Selfish for 27 days is an online event that happens twice a year (once in the April and once in September) and brings together scores of women from all around the world who shamelessly give themselves permission to put their health and happiness first. It’s about redefining selfish as a way of staying in touch with your deepest and truest SELF so you have the energy to keep giving to the people you love and the enthusiasm to keep bringing your unique gifts to the world.
Tickets for the awesome event are on sale TODAY! You have until Monday 23rd April 12pm (Aussie time) or Sunday 22nd April 10am if you’re on New York time to secure your place.

Hello Jess,
A wonderful poke for me – I thought I was looking after myself and realise I am not.
I need to get back to a “place for me” and be “selfish”
It is very hard once I have had children – please let me say that.
Ones whole life shifts to a new level of living and focus and the “me” turns into a “we”.
I never thought I would lose the focus on me but it does happen whether I like it or not.
thank you again for the reminder
have a lovely day
x Loulou
Hey Jess – wow completely resonated with your post! I’m an only child too and did exactly the same as you: I was so worried that people would think I was selfish or spoiled that I always gave to everyone (good) and tried to do what pleased everyone except myself (not so good).
You’re so right though, when you look after yourself first you have so much more love, energy and happiness to give to everyone else! Thanks for the reminder that it’s not a bad thing to be selfish!
xx
Liz
Being selfish is so hard for me, because my parent raised me up to give way to my younger brothers. This 27 days of being selfish seems interesting to try. I don’t know if I can make it!
