8 Things I’m Loving At The Moment

1. THE WARWICK FOUNDATION HIGH HEEL RACE

Next weekend I am strapping on some heels to run 100 meters in style to support The Warwick Foundation. I am an ambassador for this very special charity (which supports young adults living with cancer), so I am flying to Melbourne to show my support. If you live in Melbourne, and want to do something really nice for a really good cause, come along and join us. The more people the better, because not only does that mean we will raise more money – but we will also have a better chance at this Guinness World Record Attempt. There will be amazing prizes, and so many laughs as everyone attempts to trot 100 meters in heels. My boyfriend Tallon is even doing it, so it will be worth it just to see him run in heels!

If you can’t come along, maybe you would like to sponsor me? I am raising money via my sponsorship page. I don’t have long to rack up support funds though, so click here if you’re keen! I really want to do all I can for these guys and the wonderful people they help. Not to brag or anything, but I did win the 100 meter sprint every year back in school.

When: Saturday 29th April, 10am-1pm
Where: Flemington Race Course, Melbourne
Cost: $25 to register to race (or $200 for a team of 10). Spectator entry is via gold coin donation. Click here to register.
Sponsor me: Click here to sponsor me to race.

2. TAPPING

You know how I told you I was using EFT to help with my fear of public speaking? Well, I think it totally worked! I gave a talk last week and I was surprisingly calm the whole time. Usually I would have been shitting myself and wanting to hide out in the toilets. I think there’s definitely something to this tapping. I want to learn more before I give you guys a proper run down on tapping, but if you’re interested in learning more with me, the Tapping World Summit (a free online event) kicks off again on 7th May. Click here to register for that.

3. MY NEW SPONSOR ANIMALS

I have some new fur family members! Edgar’s Mission Farm Sanctuary is another charity that I absolutely love. The awesome people at Edgar’s provide love and care to over 250 rescued farm animals. What I love most about this organisation is that you can help them out by sponsoring one or some of their animals. At the beginning of last year I told you about how I sponsored Cinnamon the chicken and Eliza and Emma the pigs. Well now I am also sponsoring Micaly the cow. Micaly is like a mini cow, even though she is full-grown. She was born prematurely and one of a twin, her twin was a boy calf. When cows have twins and they are of the opposite sex the female is generally infertile. It‛s call “freemartinism”. Betcha didn’t know that! Click here to find out more about Edgar’s Mission, and here to check out all of the animals you can sponsor.

4. THE PURPOSE EQUATION

Do you struggle to find what your purpose in life is? I clicked on something over the weekend that makes gaining clarity around this topic so simple. Ready for it?

Your talent + helping people = purpose.

Check out this article on MakeUnderMyLife.com to discover what your personal purpose equation is.

5. MOSHI MOSHI POP HANDSET

Silly looking? Perhaps. Sensible? Most definitely. I ordered myself one of these awesome phone handsets the other day after spotting a pic of Lenny Kravitz using one. If it’s cool enough for Lenny, it’s cool enough for me! I was also proud of myself for buying something that will cut out 99% of the radiation absorbed from my phone. Afterwards I realised that my earphones probably do the exact same job, but this handset is just so cute looking! This is where I bought mine from.

6. PRACTICAL TIPS FOR PRODUCTIVE LIVING

Every single post on Marc And Angel Hack Life seems to give me exactly what I need to leverage on life. I particularly love these ones:

10 Habits You Must Quit To Be Happy

18 Truths To Start Telling Yourself

12 Lies To Stop Telling Yourself

7. CELEBRATORY CASHEW CHEESECAKE

I waited two whole years to eat a raw cheesecake made out of cashew nuts, and this one was absolutely worth the wait. It’s made from almond meal and dates on the base, and the “cheese” is cashews, lemon juice, and maple syrup. The recipe is from the amazing vegan recipe e-book Eat Awesome by Paul Jarvis.

8. ORGANIC DOG FOOD

If you’re a regular reader of my blog you will know how much I adore my pug dog, Edie. She is number one in our house. I’m not even kidding! So, it would only be fitting that she gets to eat just as good quality food as we do. I was recently introduced to a great brand of organic dog food called Augustine Approved, which is kind of like super food for dogs, and Edie was lucky enough to be sent some to try out. She loves it! There are both meat and vegan options, and all of the ingredients are so healthy they are fit for humans. Click here for more.

I am loving the raw cheesecakes too – I made one for Easter with berries and coconut oil. Totally addicted – I think they are better than normal cheesecakes ! :)

i’m loving that i can walk over to my favourite organic grocer’s for vegan, gluten-free pancakes… then head to an amazing yoga class… then walk on an empty beach and enjoy the waves crashing… then have a quiet night with my wife. basically what i’m loving at the moment, is the moment :)

Please be careful doing the run in high heels. A week ago I dislocated my ankle and tore all my ligaments from twisting my ankle while I was running, and last year I did the same thing to the other ankle. It’s a wonderful thing that you are doing, but attempting to run in high heels is very dangerous x

Shayna » Thanks Shayna! It has been a while, but in my past life I had lots of practice at running in heels. These days I get around bare foot or in thongs, so it could be trickier! Ha ha. x

Hi everyone

I got onto the Tapping Solution a couple of years ago during a rough time and bought the dvd and the cds. Since then, I have tapped on a daily basis (usually in the shower so nobody disturbs me)

In that time, I have come to love the remarkable calming effect tapping has, in a matter of minutes. Even though the rough patch is over and I don’t need it as much now, I have come to see tapping as a wonderful life enhancing tool.

It’s free, you can do it anywhere and it works! :o )

My new juicer! I don’t know what I did before I had it!

Hi Jess, your cheesecake looks amazing and well worth the wait! If you are ever in Sydney, try and track down Julie Mitsios (Consious choice) Raw Cacao Moose Cake! Its amazing. There are several health food stores and cafes that stock it :)

Wow running heels sounds precarious! I struggle to even walk in them haha.
Thanks for the link to the EFT summit, it’s something I know little about but would love to learn more.
Micaly is adorable! Are you able to help out with/visit your sponsor animals? I’d love to find somewhere around Perth that offered that option. xx

Emma » Yes, I’m going to visit the animals when I go to Melbourne on the weekend. I’m not sure of any in Perth, but Google may be able to tell you if there is one there. xx

Jess, a little of the subject. You did a post on skin-care products not so long ago. I was just wondering if you knew of any natural skin care products for babys or if you could refer me to someone that does?

P.S I need to wait until pay day, then I can sponsor you for your race!

Hi Sophie, yes for sure. Wotnot is a great natural and organic brand with a baby range. Check them out here: http://www.wotnot.com.au/wotnot-baby-products.htm

xx

Hi Jess… Just discovered your blog & lovin’ it :) congratulations on the cheesecake milestone.. Big moment for you I’m sure. I miss cashews.. Looking forward to them one day in the future!

Hey Jess :) I read ‘Marc & Angel hack life’ too! How great are their emails?!!

Hope you’re well :)

Nic xxx

Thank you for these! I love new ideas to check out!

HI Jess,

Just wondering how come you had to avoid cashews or raw cheesecake for that long? Were you not allowed nutes on Gerson Therapy?

Cheers,

Jaclyn x

Jaclyn » Hi Jaclyn, Nope, no nuts are allowed on Gerson. The only fat that is allowed is from flaxseed oil! x

Run your big heart out!
I haven’t tapped in a few months but did it daily for months last year and am happy to say my house of cards (bad memories) fell down :) big smiles x

Dear Jess,
I do not have any major health issues (that I am aware of) but have been working at taking care of my 56 year old body, since I retired the end of 2011. First thing I did was quit smoking…that lasted 43 days and when I gained 20 lbs, I regret to say I started back again ugh! So I started juicing mainly green veggies with an apple and I lost 9 lbs and then the weight loss stopped. I then joined a gym and work out 5 to 6 times a week..I.e. Weight machines, cycle and zumba classes. I did add more protien to my diet since i started working out. The weight has not come off yet but I know that it will. Also since working out I have reduced my intake of alcohol to nearly none for the last three to four weeks. My stress level has gone from 99% to 20% since retirement. That is no lie! I started oil pulling the day after I read you article and am looking forward to awesome results. But now I just have to get rid of this smoking habit. I have not tried since I started back again in mid march. Do you have any tips for me? I have to tell you I have a horrible fear of getting fat. I was a carb-o-holic..anything fried or high fat content was my friend before I began down this road. I have never liked sweets of any kind..especially chocolate, yuck. I am not a vegan, but have deleted all red meats from my diet. Since working out I had no energy, so intently I have added baked or grilled fish or chicken once in a while, and now my energy level has improved greatly. I am taking baby steps, so any words of wisdom are appreciated.

Love Your blogs and articles,

Pat
