Every now and then I watch or read something that sparks something within me so strongly that I just want to share it with everyone. It happened with Food Matters several years ago, and now it’s happening again with a brand new documentary called The Cure Is U! Back when Food Matters came out I only had my family, friends and dog to preach to. Now, I’m lucky enough to be able to share this with you.

The Cure Is U! is an empowering film that documents how our mind and our thoughts really dictate the state of our health, happiness, and life. I love that this film also addresses the importance of diet and exercise, but its main focus is on the mind, our thoughts, and our emotions and how these areas are the canvas of good health and an abundantly happy life. I also love that it features some of my favourite mind/body wellness experts including Dr Bruce Lipton, Marianne Williamson, Gregg Braden, Dr Bernie Siegel, Paul Chek, and Dr. Joel Fuhrman.

I watched this film twice, two days in a row, and then had the chance to chat with the film’s creator David Scharps. You guys are among the first in the world to hear about this film. Hope you enjoy!

In this short clip, David and I talk about:

# Why “the mind” is the often forgotten missing link when it comes to our health and wellbeing.

# Why it is that people can eat right, exercise rigidly, and still not be healthy.

# David’s top tips for people trying to make friends with their minds.

# Why every single one of us needs to get to know our “unique genius”

# Linking buried emotions to disease manifestation

And here is the trailer for The Cure Is U! I can’t recommend watching and sharing this film highly enough. It’s one that I will continue to watch over and over again to remind myself of the balance I need to maintain if I want to live my best life possible.

This film sounds great, and well done Jess for asking some excellent questions to draw out the main messages from it. For me it seems that the strongest message that the film delivers is that first and foremost in life you must fall truly, madly and deeply in love with yourself. Be your own mother, your own father, your own best friend. Treat yourself with utmost respect, be kind and gentle. with yourself. And then all else flows from there: external love relationships, your friendships, your relationship with food, your career, your hobbies. But it all starts with loving yourself to bits.

Fascinating!! What did you learn from the interview? What I learned is that all the answers to any issue can be found if we take the time to take a break and have an honest and clear Q & A with ourselves. Is that the same as meditation? Great work!!! Their site is http://www.cureisu.com/ , right?

The primary message is that its all starts will loving ourselves, this will dictate our thought patterns.
Loving ourselves is the foundation to build from. I think that it’s so desperately needed because we have as a humanity lost complete connection wit ourselves, the planet, nature and most of all from our hearts.

Loving and listening to our selves. My goal for 2012 is to take my own advice. In other words, I am really great at offering GREAT advice and helping people, but I find that I don’t take my own advice.

What relationship do you have with ‘doing the right thing’ is POWERFUL!! Loved this Jess! x

As a holistic medical practitiioner, i have long been preaching the connection between mind/body/spirit and how powerful our thoughts and emotions can be in contributing to our health. This film (or what i can see from the trailer) is just confirming all my beliefs on this connection and that not only ‘you are what you eat’ – but that ‘you are what you think!’ I read a very powerful message some time ago that in summary said ‘Man’s greatest creation is that he can control his own destiny (including health and disease) by controlling his thoughts’ Most peopel completely and utterly underestimate the power of their own minds!

I loved the part that said that thoughts are the core. If you are not happy with yourself you are not going to make those good choices. Accept yourself is at the base along with love. Love of self to be able to extend it. Self love being the only beginning spot to start. That is one powerful message. Self love and then look for the good. That is needed today because so many of us are looking for love and don`t love ourselves fully. People will make better choices when they love themselves. The link between health and emotions has one way to influence the terrain of our body.
thanks for bringing that great material to my attention:)

Wow- looks to be a truly inspirational film! David certainly walks the talk!

I think the most powerful message the film aims to deliver is that we have to start loving and truly respecting ourselves, and coming back to ourselves as our own source of pure potential. We need this now more than ever, as future generations will be affected by out stress, imbalance and dis-ease. We each therefore have a responsibility and we can’t delay any longer in taking action.

Awesome movie. Food and lifestyle are the key. Change the food you put in and watch what happens to your body and your life !. Love your website Jess you are a true inspiration. Keep up the great work and excellent blog entries every day.

The message I got from The Cure is U! trailer is that our thoughts manifest in our body as dis-ease if they are not healthy. After all, we create our entire reality with our thoughts so our body is certainly not exempt from this. The only relationship we truly ever have is with ourselves, so make it a good one! Healthy thoughts = a healthy body. :)

Thanks for a fantastic blog Jessica x

I think the message is “love”
This must start with loving yourself, EVERYTHING will follow that
Thoughts, diet, exercise, just everything..

I think the most important message is that you can’t seek health or happiness from without — it all has to begin from within yourself. This is a lesson I have ignored for most of my life but I am striving each and every day to cement into my brain, because *I* am the not the enemy! I am the hero in my own personal narrative and I need to embrace myself, support myself and BELIEVE IN and LOVE myself if I want to truly succeed in life — which is to say, lead a long, healthy and happy existence whilst I’m here!

It’s SO important today to know this because there are so many distractions which can bring us down, and so many “quick fix” scam artists who want to take advantage of people whose intentions might be good, but who are easily misguided. Everything that is good for you is simple: eat whole, organic foods, exercise moderately, practice self-love and positive thinking, be kind — these are not difficult concepts to adopt but they can have a HUGE impact on one’s quality of life.

I think, also, that if we begin to love ourselves first it will be easier to see the love and beauty in others and the world around us. Plato said, “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.” If we can accept ourselves as “perfectly imperfect” (as David says in the interview) and love ourselves not in spite of our imperfectness, but because of it, we can more easily embrace that in others and the world will be a more loving and peaceful place as a result. : )

What a wonderful quote from Plato! Ellen Degeneres was asked how it felt to make people laugh and be known as a famous comedienne. She replied that making people laugh did make her feel very good but what she wanted to be known for was as someone who was kind. Kindness is so very important. I am enjoying all the comments. Perhaps I should go and watch the interview now, eh wot??

Jess, what a wonderful interview. I actually had never heard of this film. Both the interview and the trailer made me realize that our world is filled with negativity. When we watch TV and read newspapers and magazines, they are filled with people being critical of others and pointing out all of the bad things that are happening in the world. When we drive down the road, we complain about drivers. When we come across an accident, people just slow down and gauk because they are trained to look for the negative things in life. We are taught that it’s important to be outwardly beautiful. People are so critical of each other all the time. We need to change our focus each and every day and focus on the positive things that we see in people. We need to learn how to compliment each other on a daily basis. Being grateful for the wonderful things in our lives could go a long way to bringing about positive changes in all of our lives. Thanks so much Jess.

1. We have the power, we can choose to have the control – we must take responsibility for our own lives especially our choices and our health.
2. We must lead by example and in this way spread self-love and in doing so spread love for all.

Amazing! I can’t wait to watch this movie! Thanks for the interviews n trailer Jess! Woo about time for a movie like this!

The most powerful message that this film aims to deliver:
You have total control over your experiences, including diseases, by being conscious of your thoughts & beliefs. Your thoughts create. If you are experiencing discomfort in any form, the cure is U!

Why it is needed today:
The film says that back in the day, only 1% of women had breast cancer – it’s now risen to 15%. Our world is getting faster & faster and less focus is put upon living a natural life and staying in touch with your inner self & mind. If we don’t start teaching these beautiful truths NOW, the situation will get even more out of hand. People deserve to be taught the truth! PLUS it’s time for those ruddy pharmaceutical companies to take a hike.

I’m so excited to learn more! I believe the most vital message is the EMPOWERMENT piece. It’s really all up to you to promote change and live your life with complete joy. I love how David said to “accept yourself being perfectly imperfect.” Looking for the good, positive thinking, self love… all of it is yours, you hold the key. I love that… it’s empowering. I’m glad it’s up to me and that I don’t have to rely on anyone else!

Wow, I am learning about this in my life at the moment.
There is a huge message of self love here but I believe that goes hand in hand with our own self acceptance and the power we hold to heal ourselves through our own experiences that brought emotions and beliefs to and through us.

I believe from my own experience that bigger than that is working through our own emotions, as David said. Those unexpressed and suppressed emotions that we all shove to the back because it’s too hard, too painful, too sad or maybe because so many times in our lives we are taught to just ‘get on with it’.

The Cure is U so such a powerful message for everyone – mostly because those words in themselves tells us that we need to look to ourselves as a source of power to heal and not outside ourselves giving our most precious gift of self healing away to anything or anyone else. At the end of the day we do all the hard work ourselves and learn to believe, love and take care of ourselves.

Such an important movie, with a very powerful message – the most important one I feel that this movie delivers is that YOU are the master of your own destiny – you hold the power to your own happiness, healing and health, through your mind and thoughts. This is so important in today’s society where people just push on, ignoring the stop signals from their bodies, detaching themselves from their inner self… until they get sick and then seek out ‘quick-fixes’ e.g. drugs, substances to keep themselves going. We as a society need to stop and listen to our inner voice, and be mindful about what we are telling ourselves as this is what will eventually decide whether we are ill and unhappy or positive and at optimal health. thanks for sharing Jess xx

For me, one one the messages that I loved in this clip & will now take on board myself is that I am ” perfectly imperfect “.
Never looked at myself like that before & I defiantly believe that disease is manifested be unresolved issues also.

YES!! ThanKs for the interview… and to answer your Question:
Love IS what we Really are inside … if realized, than ….U are THE Cure …. and U can know the way though every obstacle. — that is what I heard ( and I an learning it works ).
Thanks for sharing bringing awareness to this new documentary film with a wake-up call ..to realize that love is never far away.

Don’t underestimate the things that mind can do
The body and mind through the beat of your heart
can deliver the power where you can have it all

PS
Inspired by Adele

The message to me is the power of the mind and in positive thinking. This is something I am currently actively investigating as my 6 year old son is having anxiety issues. I am sourcing different ways of altering his perspective on life so that he can feel empowered, in control, positive, calm and confident rather than stressed, inadequate and restless. If meditation, self awareness and other mind excerices were taught in schools a bit more perhaps there would be less need for medication later in life.

Such good timing for me (and everyone), thank you for putting it out there. Love that he’s spotlighting the immense power of our thoughts, which is completely underestimated. I never thought my mind had the power to create, and now I’m learning that it’s the ultimate creator. Insane! After learning to love myself, I’ve found that the healing is flowing, the creativity is moving, I’m tuning in to my real values, breathing, opening emotionally, and I love life now more than ever. A great message for a hectic, un-connected society like us, thank you.

Thanks for sharing this powerful video Jess!
The most important message I get from this is that I have the power to live a life of vitality. No pharmaceutical company or professional /individual is interested in me as a WHOLE person. I am only a bunch of symptoms to them. I understand that by living a life of balance and self love I am capable of not only keeping healthy but being an inspiration to others. In this day and age where we willingly (or subconsciously) hand over our power and live in a hurried life it is important to understand that we have the tools within us to change it all.

thanks again!

The most powerful message is HEALTHY THOUGHTS create HEALTHY BODIES. Loving and accepting ourselves is of paramount importance. When we don’t love ourselves we sabotage our bodies by eating crappy foods and not exercising and then we beat ourselves up even more by thinking negative thoughts about how we are just not good enough and how we need to be more trim taut and terrific. It’s a vicious cycle… Unresolved emotions- anger, resentment etc cause illness.. The simple solution lies in being KIND to ourselves and LOVING, HONOURING, RESPECTING and ACCEPTING OURSELVES as being absolutely PERECT and then the healthy eating and other healthy habits will easily follow. Like the Beatles song LOVE is the key – “All we need is LOVE…all we need is LOVE, all we need is LOVE LOVE, LOVE is all we need. :) Thankyou for sharing the interview with us. It was very informative xx

The film looks wonderful, I’m excited to watch it. The message that stands out the most to me is that we have to learn to accept, love and be kind to ourselves. Today so many people are constantly beating themselves up over not being successful enough, slim enough, fit enough or rich enough; they’re at constant war with themselves and are their own harshest critics. I also consider the impact that more self-love would have on a larger social perspective; people would be more patient, forgiving, loving, caring and of course, physically healthier! I’m sure that the world would be a more peaceful and synchronised place. xx

Jess this is why I love you!! you are a true messenger! So pleased to see this post. From what I gather this movie shows how our mind has an immense power to heal, which makes so much sense. Its capacity can not be measured. I think the Self love is a powerful point. If our brain is in charge , then why on earth would it make our physical self and thinking self, its enemy! let alone create perceptions that go against our own well being.`

I was told many years ago “every physical condition of the body has a mental origin”. Self image and self love are closely connected. How can we love someone or know what love truly is without self love. Love is what holds the universe together. Many people confuse the physical brain with the spiritual mind. The brain simply does what the mind tells it to do. The mind is that part of us all some call God. Religion has done untold damage to what was first intended when we made the decision “to be”.

The most powerful message is simply that the ultimate answer, healing through love, and creation and control of it, lies completely within the self. In an age of ultimate consumerism driven by unethical convoluted multi-industry mass marketing the answer couldn’t be simpler: we each have the solution within us!

Thanks Jess, so glad this has been tackled ah lah Food Matters style, can’t wait to watch! xx

It is hard to change a lifetime of thinking that we should be looking for our flaws and work to correct them, rather than appreciating the good aspects of ourselves. The mind definitely has a power over the quality of our lives, so the part about how we parent our children from birth with positive thinking about themselves is a strong point I heard during your interview.

My father used to say, “Don’t let work be your God.” He would say that when I would work late into the night or even into the next morning, and I guess my exhaustion was visible. That is definitely the problem with the U.S., working to move up the ranks at the price of our health and lives.

Loving it!
I start crying everytime I watch a trailer on your blog, Jess. And I think that is a good sign :]

Such a wonderful video. I need this in my collection!!! I agree that it’s all about us. Listen and we will hear. Kind is connected to the body and the soul. We just need to slow down and listen!!
Love this, thanks Jess
T

‘your thoughts become words, your words become actions, your actions become habits,
your habits become character, your character becomes your DESTINY.’

Love that saying … Does it derive form Buddhism ?

“Number 1 is to accept yourself” stood out to me as the most important message in this awesome video – I agree and resonate with all of it. Self love is everything xo

How lovely! I think the key message is that thoughts cannot possibly be mere thoughts – they manifest themselves in our environment and, particularly, our bodies.

Love doesn’t need to involve anybody but YOU !! Accept your self and believe in YOU !! – “Your unique genius” – he says
Look for the good !! I think also life shouldn’t be complicated – create a simple life for your self
Can’t wait to see the film ~ thanks Jess – have a beautiful day

The heart is the pump to our brain aka our thoughts! If we don’t have self love of our perfect imperfections it will create dis-ease! Love it xxxxxxx

Hi Jessica,

First of all, thanks so much for charing your knowledge..it inspires me! Especially since I finally realized I don’t want a big career as marketeer anymore, so I started a study to be an nutritionist, along with ayurveda and lots of yoga. I’m loving it, feeling happy, and most importantly: I feel very healthy! I totally make different food choices now, like David Scharps said, and I am satisfied with different things, healthier choices. So….The Cure is U! has such an important message; I already found out that it works!! The powerful message is that sickness starts in your brain, actually like the Brahmins said decades ago. So don’t let it happen! Be positive. Love yourself and others, and everything around you. Why not!
The message is much needed today, since there is a lot of ego in this world. But that does not go together with this message! I truly hope many, many people will watch this documentary. And work on it!

I thought the most powerful message in this video what he said about self love. This is so needed today because so many people have no idea how to love themselves.

‘Focus on life and living that is the answer’. We all need to take some deep breathes slow down and release our emotions we all have the power within our own selves we are the only ones who own our thoughts. Looks like another fantastic story that will empower many people to sustain happy and healthy lives. Thanks Jess xx

Hi Jess, another great movie to add to the must see list. The message is clear, open you heart and mind and let the light in. What you resist persists.

Is that a haiku? (smiles) Extremely well said! Thanks.

It’s curious to me that folks with good intentions who are concerned about their health and what they eat would never consider taking an enema… even when the evidence and history of enemas is presented to them. Talk about resistance! (more smiles)

This film looks incredible! After watching your interview with David and the film’s trailer, I am completely inspired. I believe that this film conveys a message of awareness – awareness of the Power within ourselves. Too often we seek this Power elsewhere and this film teaches us the importance of doing your own individual mental work to reveal just how powerful we all really are. That almost anything can be healed if we make the conscious choice! Can’t wait to see this amazing film!

Oh Jess, this cries out to me! And im sure it will help SO many people.
The Message for this film is to create awarness of how powerful our mind is and the power it has on our health. It enforces that we can’t neglect our mental health.
I can personally relate to this and I have just started taking action.
I cant wait to see this film, thanks for telling us about it!

Hey Jess, there was so many good points to only pick one. But I have picked one that has related to my personal healing journey. Its to look for the good in every situation. To train you mind to look for the good. LOVE.

Oh Jess, I just love your interviews! You are darling! It seems the most powerful message in this is to accept yourself as you are and then move forward in a positive direction through self-love.. I loved the concept of “self-creation”. Reminds me of neuro-linguistic-programming. I think this message is so important because I feel that people spend so much of their lives self-loathing that they really waste this precious life. Can’t wait to see it! Luv ya Jess, keep up the good work ~

After watching my interview with David and the film’s trailer, what do you think is the most powerful message that this film aims to deliver? Why is it needed today?

The most powerful message is that how your thoughts and belief could overcome anything. Whenever you think you are not okay, your body would respond to that and makes you feel that way. I learned that about a year ago by practicing my thoughts and reassure myself that everything is going to be OK and that i am OK— let it go. My body naturally follows and that I’m starting to feel better and back in “sync” then was able to handle whatever happens to my body effectively. With more practice, it becomes more natural and that I’ve recovered from a disorder with TONS of practice and also got myself into myself spiritually then I saw the need to change my eating habits and it becomes easier and I have not been this better since I can’t remember. :) It is MUCH needed to send THIS message today because people are losing the insight of themselves and the purpose to live with the power they have within themselves. Also the world is full of distractions with “negative energy” by bad food, bad thoughts-messages sent, monetary competition, and many more that got people to forget the most SIMPLE thing to do for themselves and others is to LOVE. That only happens when the person is in touch within herself/himself— definitely a good film to remind and educate people the simple things would un-complicate things.

I can’t wait to see this film! I think the main message is that we have been brainwashed into believing that we can’t think for ourselves. In the process we have strayed from our Earth Mother and have become dependent on huge corporations to cure us with drugs, to provide our foods, and to give us answers. But luckily people are starting to wake up because we’re realizing that the drugs aren’t curing us, the foods are making us sick, and the answers we’re getting don’t make any sense. This film is needed today because people are finally hungry for the truth and they’re growing angry that they’ve been lied to for so long. Films like this are giving people the information they need to understand that perfect health is attainable regardless of what we hear from mainstream media.

It delivers the message that we control our own health. In this world of chronic degenerative disease, people sometimes succumb to the protocols of allopathic medicine: when truly, they have the power to heal what is theirs. It is inside of you, and it starts with your mind. Never give up. Conventional medicine does not have the last word, YOU do. <3

Thank-you so much for sharing! Love it! xx

It’s all about the mind-body connection. Candace Pert talks about the science behind it in ‘The Molecules of Emotion’.

I think you need to find peace with your life and yourself, and then healing takes care of itself. Sometimes this is the missing piece.

Loved your interview and the movie trailer !!
The phrase that caught my attention and which I believe is truth is “Every disease is an unresolve emotion”. In order to lead a happy and peaceful life we need to start by loving ourselves, understanding our bodies and having positives thoughts. Every thought will reflect in our lifes. It depends on us to decide what type of life do we want to have. The more positive thoughts we have the more happier and healthy our life will be. I am a firm believer that if we have negative thoughts or negative feelings towards other people we will just harm our bodies and this will generate diseases and sicknes…

It is important that this message gets across so people can start changing their way of thinking and life a happier life.

Everyone deserves a happy and healthy life, there is nothing more beautiful than to live in harmony and be grateful this will create good health and happiness !

i loved the video ! i believe yes we should start with ourselves and pay attention to wut we eat .,,,, can u plz post some of the inspiring books which u read about such topic ?
