Yeah yeah yeah, we’ve all heard about recycling before. Boring. But did you know that there is sooo much you can do before you make the choice to put your rubbish in the recycle bin? Did you know that it takes a lot of energy to actually turn your rubbish in to something new?

I had never really thought about this before. I would just give myself a pat on the back if I remembered to put something in the recycling bin! And I had certainly never really thought about the ‘reduce’ and the ‘reuse’ part of the saying before. But today I want to share with you some ways that you can reduce your consumption (and save money – woohoo!) and reuse things around the home. Check out this video and check out my Reduce Reuse Recycle Pinterest Board for lots of ideas!

Do you have any other tips for reducing, reusing, and recycling?

Love it <3 – thanks for all your inspiration. Going to the website now!, to buy those natural soap thingy's now!

Thanks amanda for the tip on the soap nuts, going to order online now, cant wait to use them! I will be so happy to not use washing powder anymore.
Jess i love the two pics at the top of the post, just beautiful
x

Great post! The soap nuts sound fantastic – defiantly going to investigate them! The soy candles look beautiful also. I have just invested in a stainless steel water bottle as I was always a sucker for buying bottled water. Although I always recycled the plastic bottle, purchasing bottled water always still weighed heavily on my conscious! Seems so wasteful. Anyway, I always refill my new stainless steel bottle from the tap and would love some further information or even a future post on the portable water PH/purifiers that you use in your bottle?? Many thanks for the inspiration, loving your doggie! xoxoxox

Thank you for sharing this Jess! I’m debating whether or not to purchase a second fridge for the non-malignant Gerson therapy & on the subject of reducing, did you find it a necessity to have a second fridge or find that you could manage with one & make more frequent trips to the store? Our fridge is a decent size with a fresh food capacity of 18 cu ft. Do I really need to buy a second fridge?

Thank you!
Holly

Holly » Hi Holly, this really depends how much you are willing to go to the grocery store. If you can go every second day, one fridge should be fine. If not, I would suggest getting a second one. It also depends how hot it is where you live. We couldn’t fit all of our produce into even two fridges, which is why we had to hire the triple door one. We found that we weren’t able to leave the carrots out of the fridge because they were going rotten. We do have four people in our house though, so if you have less than less fridge space is needed. Sorry I can’t give an exact answer. It just depends on your circumstances. You could give it a go and get a second one if you can’t get away with just one. x

Amanda Rootsey is amazing! Soap nuts are definitely on my list of things to try ! :)

Amazing ideas Amanda…it is surprising how often you look at a discarded item and it just looks like junk – but I look at your recycling, and can’t believe I could not see it before. Everything is a piece of art, your creative eye is wonderful!

Thanks for your beautiful comments everyone! Bianca I will put together a post about alkaline/filtered water bottles for the next Wellness Warrior Simple Living installment so stay tuned (If Jess is happy with this of course!). xx

Amanda Rootsey » Of course I am happy with that! Awesome idea! xx

Oh fantastic! Thank you so much Amanda! I look forward to it :) xx

Some great ideas – I am definitely not as active as I should be when it comes to reducing and re-using .
