Wellness Warrior TV: What drives my discipline
One of the questions I get asked most (after “you put what up your bottom five times a day?”) is how I have managed to stick to a regime as strict as Gerson Therapy for so long.
For the past 20 months I’ve been healing my body from cancer using this natural treatment modality. It is an incredibly time-consuming and labour-intensive therapy and involves drinking hourly fresh veggie juices, multiple daily coffee enemas and eating a strict organic mostly vegan diet. This must be done each and every day for a minimum of two years. It takes so much dedication and commitment that many people are flabbergasted that I haven’t gone off track yet (especially the people who knew the pre-cancer me).
In this video, I have broken down the drive to my discipline into three simple points.
#1: The inspiration markers I surround myself with to keep me on track.
#2: The role of education.
#3: How I switched my thinking (this is the big one) and why this mental makeover has been the foundation of my success.
These three points are not just handy for staying on track with health goals. They can be applied to any and all major goals you have and milestones you want to achieve.
Check out the video and let me know what you think.

Positive affirmation for the day: All of my actions are motivated by the highest goals and intentions I have set for myself. I act in accordance to what I want in life.

The mental strength is what is the clincher. I gave up smoking 22 months ago, and did a little juice fast to kick it off, but it was the thoughts that helped me get through it so easily and quickly (although, not too easily).
Every time I felt like giving up, I concentrated on what I was gaining- non stinky breath, hair and clothes, full lung capacity, freedom to eat a whole meal at a resturant without leaving to have a smoke, plus obvious health and monetary gains. This was an amazing thing as I didn’t feel like I was missing out on it at all.
Now, I am trying to get back there (headspace) to revert back to my smoking days weight- this is harder for me.
So yep, mental strength once again- go Jess!
Jess – everything you say or write is so inspiring. Love your new videos! Keep them coming!
Oh Jess you’re such a glowing inspiration. I think this advice could be used in any area of life, not just for maintaining health.
I’m so thankful I don’t have cancer or any severe illness currently, but your blog has helped me manage my fear of being unwell – because you have shown that disease is something we can all prevent and conquer.
P.S. I’ve lost 2.5 kgs since buying your live well starter kit a month ago! That is a good thing for me. So thanks for helping me fit back into my favourite pants
Thanks again Jess. I battle with myself everyday in trying to chose the best food with my body. I am overweight, tired, and sick of being tired. My transition into a mostly raw food diet, juices and organic meats has been a such a struggle and resisting manufactured food can also be a huge challenge. So far I do not have a ‘diagnosed’ condition but I need a mindset like you to prevent it. You are inspiring and I feel so nurtured by your blog. I look forward your updates and featured reads.
All love Jen xxx
This is sooooo coool and i LOVE that it reeks of a Carren seminar. You are awesome. So excited for you, have already heard rave reviews about your speaking

Thanks so much Jillian! And thanks for the tips
Hi Jess…. Great Video.. Short and sweet. For me it is easy because not doing the Gerson therapy is not an option. Every time I walk into the cancer ward of the hospital here for the appointment with my oncologist I am reminded that conventional medicine does not have much to offer. Even though everyone is very nice it is a very negative place so I get in and out quickly. Mahalo, Ron
Once again, great video! Thanks so much Jess.
By the way, you mention a consequence of not doing Gerson or being disciplined is loss of energy. Question, when did you begin to feel better and have any energy as I stay very weak and tired almost constantly and when I do have little spurts, it is quickly abated. I figure it’s because I am only a few months in.
I so appreciate you and all you do to encourage others on this path.
Hi Susanelizabeth,
This is different for everyone. Most Gerson people can feel lethargic and weak because their bodies are undergoing a major healing response. I’m not sure when the switch happened for me. I’ve gone through stages of having lots of energy, and then others where I feel tired a lot of the time. It’s all part of the process. Stick with it and know that when you feel tired, your body is most likely doing it’s most powerful healing. x
beautiful, insightful and encouraging answer, Jess
That’s exactly what I tell myself Jess….that the tiredness and other detox symptoms are the signals that healing is progressing. I plan to “stay the course” until wellness is a reality.
Jess, You’re such an inspiration – You go to other sites for inspiration, I go to yours. Thank You, and continue on your path of wellness.

Jess TV is my favorite show !
You are a ray of sunshine… and a blessing on this spinning
globe called Earth.

Thanks for the inspiration injection, Jess!
Although I’m not doing Gerson, I have permanently eliminated the bad foods and booze etc. to prevent a cancer recurrence, so sometimes I do feel sorry for myself not being like a ‘normal’ 30 year old out partying with friends. But then I think about enduring chemo again and the complaining stops..and I happily make another green juice
Love watching your vids. Please keep them coming!x
That’s awesome Yvette! It’s so great to hear from others who have similar gripes with giving up partying. Wishing you all the best for your continued health and healing xx
Thank you so much again Jess for another great inspiring video. I feel TRULY blessed that I am able to receive your wisdom and love everyday in my inbox!! I have shared this on my fb page. Much Love Natasha x
Dear Jess,
You rock in so many ways! I am only 4 months into this Gerson world. I am totally loving what it is doing to my body. I guess that’s why Im sticking to it ~ that, and I really wanted to keep my boobs, even though they are tiny now ( No cheese, or meat or fats, you know the deal). My partner calls Gerson a natural non surgical mastectomy! lol Anyway I just want to send you positive vibes, a massive hug and loads of love to help you on those days where you want to curl up in fetal position and cry for the day. (I know this because I am going thru it) I hope they are few and far between. I often think to cure oneself of a disease like cancer can make a person cry too, that it’s so simple and so hard at the same time. Our bodies are so beautiful and amazing and I am so grateful for the chance to help my body…to give it what it needs, to put my own cravings and desires aside… in a way. Its almost like prayer, or spiritual sacrifice. Happy Christmas to you and your family , Jess KHL! . xoxo
Love, Courtney.
Courtney, you just said it all so beautifully! It makes me so happy to hear from other Gerson people who feel the same way I do about embracing the process. It’s tough and some days you hate the world, but the amazing effect it has on your body and mind makes it all worth it! Keep up the amazing healing work! Happy Christmas to you too xxx
Dear Jess
Firstly thank u for your wonderful blog. Like u I am doing the Gerson therapy ( i am healing Lymphoma). I went to the clinic in Mexico in April 2011 for 2 weeks and now I am on my 8 month. After watching your latest video i sat wondering what motivates me be, besides the obvious alternatives like death. I have come to believe in Angels. I was never a spiritual person but fortunately with the massive and prolonged detox one goes through with Gerson u involuntarily detox emotionally and spatially. Two days after being diagnosed I met my Angel Shireen. She had come out to sunny Durban in South Africa from London to get much need sun and vit D. We met quite by chance which re inforces my belief that she is an Angel. She had cured herself of cancer in one year after under going multiple horrific operations to ‘remove’ the cancer. More importantly she also cured herself of mercury poisoning which the detox brought out straight after curing herself of cancer. She is an extremely bright women who measures what she says and made a statement, which I always go back to and even in my darkest moments it is the one thing that gets me through. She said, ‘ Claude cancer is not about lumps and dumps, it’s about toxin levels, get your head around that and u will make it.’ From then on the panic stopped and I stopped feeling my lumps. I just focused on detoxification of my body, mind, soul and environment. My advise to anyone who is doing the Gerson treatment is get in touch with people who have done the treatment. Their stories will inspire u. They are true heroes.

Thank you so much for sharing this story with us Claude! It’s beautiful, and you are so right. Our best motivation comes from hearing success stories of the people who have been there and done that. Wishing you all the best!
Thank u Jess. SometHing I must mention about Shireen is that although she cured herself of cancer in one year she had to re start the Gerson therapy when the mercury started coming out. (it actually came out of the skin on her hands in tiny metal like filings. Like glitter. She actually gathered it up and collected it in a bottle. It took another 3 years for her to put that one to bed. So in total it took 4 years of Gerson. She informemed last week that she was now offically off Geeson!!! This is a remarkable journey because we all go into the treatment thinking that we will be finished in 18 months where’s in fact it will take as long or short as your body needs. We have to just swim with the current knowing that in the end we will be a completely new machine, with brand new parts, being updated every six months at a cellular level based on a perfect diet of organic food. On the other hand I met a Chirpractor at the clinic who arrived at the clinic with 3 cancers.Marcia often comments on this blog.
Sorry that went before I was finished. Lol – i am writing this upside down doing my ‘upside down coffee! Marcia’s markers showed no sign of cancers after 4 months. So everyone is different. We are all unique and we are all heroes.
Claude
Namaste – I Salute you!
I wish there was a forum of sorts of those of us doing Gerson, modified or not. I’d love to touch base with people, share what Gerson has done in their lives and the different diseases that have been conquered. Currently, as I detox, my eyes are swollen, I now have fever blisters(Herpes Simplex 1) that surround my eyes, amongst other things. One of the diseases I have is Sarcoidosis throughout my body/organs, and esp in my eyes. So, it’s no surprise as my body/eyes cleanse that this would happen. Although detox and these manifestations are not pleasant, they are truly a sign of healing.
I think I read somewhere from Gerson that there might be a support grp of sorts for some of us on the program, but I read so much, I can’t remember where I read that or if it was just speculation. Jess, have you heard of this?
Hi Susanelizabeth…
I was thinking the same thing. Here is one I did find:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/GersonTherapy/
Does anyone know of any others.
Ron
I just wish to say I think you are very inspiring and I wish you all the best of luck. You are courageous and are contributing to helping others get the most out of their lives. I am currently undergoing a complete revision of my own website and will consider (if you consent) including your link on my website. I will also be sharing inspiring information from my own weekly blog as a natural healer on how to help people get healthier. Mike
Hi Mike,
Thanks so much!! Of course, that’s totally okay. All the best with your revision and spreading the word!
I love your blogs and your are an inspiration, well done to you!
Hi jess
I just saw your article on face book. I would love some more information on the Gerson therapy My daughter is fighting breast cancer. are there any doctors in Brisbane that you can recommend .
Thanks kay
kay » Hi Kay, for information on Gerson Therapy check out their website http://www.gerson.org – it’s full of information and you can contact them to speak with someone about your daughter’s case. I would also recommend reading Healing The Gerson Way by Charlotte Gerson and watching The Gerson Miracle DVD and also Dying To Have Known DVD. I don’t know of any doctors in Australia who are trained in Gerson Therapy. I don’t have a doctor here, I just see an integrative one to help me with my blood tests etc. If you are keen to do the therapy, I would highly recommend going to the clinic in Mexico. Wishing you all the best! x
Hi Kay & Jess:
If you are looking for an excellent Gerson practitioner in Australia, I recommend that you contact Kathryn Alexander.
http://www.kathrynalexander.com.au/about.htm
Kathryn was on the Board of Directors of the Gerson Institute with responsibilities for research and development and practitioner training. She developed the training curriculum for the Gerson Therapy and produced Nutritional Healing: a Patient Management Handbook, described by Charlotte Gerson as “the ‘bible’ of the nutritional healer of the future.”
I currently consult with Kathryn from Maui every 4 to 6 weeks using Skype Video. I works out well.
Ron
Hi Jess
