8 things I’m loving at the moment
1. Romeo Alpha
Last week I received an email from a 33-year old artist and breast cancer crusader named Ra Churchin. She wrote to tell me that she really resonated with the post I wrote about ‘The Healing Power of No’. I wrote back to her and professed my love for the absolutely beautiful paintings I saw when I clicked through to her website. Ra paints bird (like the one pictured above), and I have been obsessed with her work ever since I saw it. Why birds? On her ‘about’ page, Ra says that birds signify the spirits and souls of our loved ones. Since ancient times, because of the Birds connection to the sky, they have been thought of as a supernatural link between the heavens and the earth. I’m actually terrified of birds in real life, but I love that symbolism.
To make it even easier for everyone to support Sir Paul and his mission to make Monday’s a meat-free event, this vegetarian cookbook features an inspiring collection of recipes. The McCartneys kicked off the ‘Meat Free Monday’ campaign in 2009, and this book encompasses the ethos that giving up meat for even just one day a week can make a world of difference to our health, the environment, and the animals.
The book features 312 recipes in total, including contributions from celebrities and chefs such as Kevin Spacey, José Pizarro, Tom Aikens, Twiggy, Giorgio Locatelli, Bryn Williams, Yotam Ottolenghi –and the McCartneys themselves, who are passionately vegetarian.
I first discovered Debbie Ford when she was one of our guest lectures at IIN, and I’ve loved her tell-it-like-it-is wisdom ever since. Check out her site for free, quick meditations including your “Latte Break”, “Internal Flame” and “Sweet Dreams Night time Meditation”. They’re each a beautifully wrapped gift for your spirit.

5. Table Tonic
Louise Bell used to be the Creative Director of Cosmopolitan, Cleo and Dolly magazine here in Australia. These days, she is the founder of Table Tonic, an online homewares store and blog dedicated to her love of interior decorating. Visiting Louise’s site is one of my favourite things to do when I pour myself a cup of dandelion tea in the afternoon. Not only because I like to dream about what my place will look like when/if I ever get to move out of home, but also because she weaves wonderful food, health and natural beauty posts into her aesthetically pleasing mix.
6. Wholepromise
I know I say this every time I discover a new food blog, but this one is truly stunning. Delicious wholefood recipes photographed with such flare and care that they make you want to lick the computer screen. The site’s creator, Sherilyn, is a fellow health coach, fertility nurse, midwife and mum of two boys.
I know Amanda isn’t exactly new to my site, and you might say that a bit of nepotism has crept into this post, but despite the fact that Mandy is a close friend of mine shouldn’t take away from the fact that she is doing something really cool. Amanda has been a model for 10 years and now, after beating cancer and changing her lifestyle considerably, she has become very passionate about taking care of our beautiful planet and has chosen to work exclusively with eco-friendly and ethical companies that share her values. Compassionate, beautiful and one of the kindest souls I’ve ever met. I’m hoping her decision will help spark a new movement in Australia.
8. Cute kids loving their greens
Who says the little ones aren’t partial to eating greens? Check out this adorable video of two kiddies drinking their green smoothies and eating their kale chips with the enthusiasm kids of days gone by would have reserved for a trip to the lolly shop. Once you’re done watching the clip, have a click through the rest of the site. It’s another stunningly shot food blog I visit regularly.

And you are RIGHT there, top of my daily list (although I can’t always wait until the afternoon for my WW “fix”!).
Thank you Sweet girl.
xxxLou
Aww you’re awesome! Thank you so much Lou xx
Those kids are so adorable….so great to see kids eating and loving real food. They are lucky kids. Their mum has to be brave though – green smoothies on a white lounge…it had me cringing, lol!
Hey Jess
I just got the new Iphone 4s and I’m loving that!
Just wondering if you can recommend any Wellness apps and if you ever thought about creating your own.
Farla
Hi Farla, I am actually short of suggestions here. I think I’m the only person in the world who has a BlackBerry instead of an iPhone ha ha. I would love to develop an app some day though! x
I love Amanda’s blog. She is a sweet, strong, generous woman and i love her take on life… xxx
I LOVE your list of things you love. If that makes sense.
I love them all, as always. And thank you so much for the shout out, you are so so sweet and I can’t tell you enough how grateful I am to have met you and had the chance to get to know you. It’s so nice to have another girl who thinks the same way and lives near by! xx
I feel the same way beautiful girl! We must have another play date soon. xx
wow I just love that video of the green kids – see Mums – it is possible! Tx for sharing this Jess, i shared it on my fb sites too x
Hello, anyone know what blender she used in the clip?? And what veg/fruit did she use in the smoothie??
Hi Jess,
Trying to understand why rice and oat milk are not suited for kids under 5 as a complete milk source…and why would anyone recommend cow’s milk if it just depletes calcium storage??
Hi Lucky,
I don’t recommend cow’s milk, but I do recommend both rice and oat – even for kids under 5. After they are weaned off mother’s milk, they don’t actually need a milk source. Water, fresh veggie juice, green smoothies, coconut water – these are all much better than cow’s milk.
