Recipe of the week: Raw banana slice
This is another sweet treat my Gerson friends can go right ahead and indulge in. However, those of you who don’t have to follow Gerson rules will love this simple, healthy sweet snack as well. It’s so easy to make, and so so tasty!
What you’ll need:
1 banana
10 dates
¾ cup rolled oats
1 cup oat bran
1 tsp bee pollen (optional)
2tbs sultanas
1/8 cup maple syrup
What to do:
1. Chop banana and dates and combine in a mixing bowl.
2. Add all ingredients to a blender or food processor and blend until combined well.
3. Transfer mixture to a bowl and add more oat bran and rolled oats until the mixture is to a desired consistency. Because this is a raw slice, you don’t want the mixture to be too runny.
4. Spoon mixture into a glass dish and sprinkle the top with extra bee pollen.
5. Transfer to the fridge to set for at least 30 minutes.

Delicious Jess!
As a Canadian, I can’t stress the importance of using REAL 100% pure Maple Syrup. heheh Enjoy!
Yes, absolutely! Organic maple syrup is the only stuff to use!
Hi Jess,
Your raw banana slice recipe sounds delish. I must make it. Can I freeze it? How long will it last if stored in a container? Do you know where I can buy organic Maple Syrup?
Hi Lone,
I have never tried freezing it, but I would say you would be able to if needed. It lasts about a week in the fridge. You should be able to get organic maple syrup from an organic store, or Coles and Wollies sometimes have it also.
Thank so much Jess. I will go looking for the Maple Syrup & do some baking.
Best wishes,
That looks so good! I’ll try this on the weekend. Perfect treat to have with herbal tea….better than a tim tam!! xx
Hi Jess,
Can you please explain why maple syrup is allowed and not other sweeteners like honey, agave etc.?
Hi Alina,
Honey is allowed, but agave isn’t for a few reasons. Check out the post I wrote about it here: http://www.thewellnesswarrior.com.au/2011/05/why-i-was-wrong-to-recommend-agave-nectar/
Thanks!
so the maple syrup may be substituted with honey?
Yes, absolutely!
i love your blog, i have it in my rss reader and always like new things coming up from it.
Don’t forget to soak the oats….
